I have a great grandmother named [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] and would love to honor her and my grandfather who told me stories about her.
While I love [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] it does seem a little heavy for everyday. Is [name_u]Ollie[/name_u] too much of a stretch as a nickname? Is there another option I’m not seeing?
I think [name_u]Ollie[/name_u] could work as a nickname for [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], but I would personally use [name_f]Fifi[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f] or [name_f]Lila[/name_f] instead.
[name_u]Ollie[/name_u] would be a great nn for [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], I definitely don’t think it is a stretch. Some other suggestions for nicknames are,
I think [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] is beautiful and [name_u]Ollie[/name_u] definitely works! I read a book where a character’s name was [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and she went by Feely. I even think [name_f]Elfie[/name_f] (re-arranging sounds) could work!
Other options: [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_u]Elia[/name_u], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f],
What a beautiful name, but the nn of [name_u]Ollie[/name_u] doesn’t do this [name_u]Justice[/name_u], but maybe for close family members. I would insist on most everyone call her by her full name.
