[name_m]Both[/name_m] names are beautiful but I have to go with [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]. It’s simply stunning!

I love these threads simply because in the end you usually have made up your mind about which name you like better despite if it’s the more popular choice or not. (In your head you usually defend your preferred choice when people chose the other).

I prefer [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] but I think I would also have a hard time choosing it if it were #1 in my country.

Have you considered [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]?

I adore [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] but prefer [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]. Have you considered [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]? Pronounced just slightly different. Maybe it’s not as popular. I would not let popularity force me to not use a name I loved most.

I was also going to suggest [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] – this is a family name for me and I absolutely adore it – much more so than [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]. Popularity, shmopularity. Choose a name you love. [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] is also beautiful, as is [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] and [name_f]Delia[/name_f] (I am so in love with this name, but I have a very close friend with it, so we couldn’t use it unfortunately). [name_f]My[/name_f] friend pronounces it [name_f]DEE[/name_f]-lee-ya and it just sounds so beautiful and lyrical.

The fact that you’ve said [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] would probably be your top choice if not for popularity makes me think you have. OpheliaFlora’s got a good point though, if you start defending a name when others dislike it/pick something else you know that’s the one.

Personally, I prefer the dramatic and stunning [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] though. I wouldn’t use it myself (it’s not a good association for me) but would love to meet one. [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is nice but seems so normal and mehh in comparison. And no, I don’t know a single [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f].

Bedelia makes me think of the Amelia Bedelia children’s books. Cute as a little girl, but the references could grow old as an adult.

Oh, this is so hard! I adore both [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and both have its pros and cons. [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is extremely popular, but has great nickname options (which is really important for me). [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] isn’t as popular and overused as [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], but there aren’t any nicknames for it that I like.
Today I voted for [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], but tomorrow I could vote for [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]. Depends on my mood, I guess, because in fact I have no answer for this question.

Not sure how I feel about [name_f]Bedelia[/name_f] either. I just started watching [name_m]Hannibal[/name_m] recently and there’s a character named [name_f]Bedelia[/name_f] who wears it very well. The “bed” part slightly puts me off, though.

I prefer [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] - just stunning and it is popular for a reason!

[name_u]Love[/name_u], love, love [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]. So elegant. [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]'s going up over here too, so have to go with [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]. I also love that it has a similar sound/feel to [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]/[name_f]Sophia[/name_f]/[name_f]Isabella[/name_f], which are very popular here, but still stands out from the crowd.

I love [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], so chose that. Not a huge fan of [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], but I do love [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]. They are all very pretty names though. I do think the popularity of [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] would put me off. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is number one in Aus at the moment, and even though I love it, I wouldn’t use it for this reason, but then it’s also not my most favourite girls name. If [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is you absolute favourite name, then I’d say go for it, despite the popularity, I’d rather my child have a popular name for their birth period than forever regret giving them the name I did.

[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] a few years ago was very pretty to me, but now I hear about it everywhere and I’m just tired of it frankly. [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] feels much fresher, and as you can tell from my signature, I love it.

I don’t like [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] as it’s too popular and [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] makes me think of Ofal. Sorry! I don’t like the “feel ya” sound in the name either.
Have you considered [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]? Less common and without the negatives of [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] for me.
