Opinion - ‘Narrative Novel’?

Hey, all! I’m here to ask your opinion on what I call ‘narrative novels’.

To me, a narrative novel is a novel/book that follows the life of one character. That’s it, it just follows their life and the drama in their life, and just their life in general. It’s basically a retelling of a piece of the character’s life.

What are your opinions on this type of writing? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it would be too boring? Would you be interested? Would you attempt to write one?

Thanks in advance!

It depends on a lot of factors!
Some people are into more action-fueled stories, but others (me included) don’t mind reading about a person’s life. But it has to 1) be written well, so we can really understand this character and find beauty in their world and interactions 2) have an interesting or emotional plot. If you write about a character’s rough childhood and how they struggled to transition into adulthood, for example, that’s going to be boring if you can’t get the readers to feel what the character is feeling and cry with them. But the easier thing to do would be to write about someone’s life, but give them an interesting one. Maybe they’re a child prodigy, or maybe they grow up in environment that people only learn about through movies and books.
Personally, books like that are some of my favorites to read when done well. Many times when reading books of other genres I find myself enjoying the sections of characters just living their lives the most! If you’ve read the fifth [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] book, there’s nothing I love more than the first couple chapters where [name_m]Harry[/name_m] and his friends are just dealing with life in their new house.

Looks really interesting. I have dream to write own short stories too. But my writing skills is not so good for writing novels. I think I need to improve my grammar too because I have errors in my college papers. Sometimes I used help of writingcheap
