Someone suggested the name ‘Hollyn’ to me (nickname [name_f]Holly[/name_f], feminine variation of the boy names [name_u]Hollis[/name_u] and [name_u]Holland[/name_u]). I think it sounds beautiful but I’m reading comments on the internet that it sounds “trashy” and “made up”
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like the girl name Hollyn?
Honestly, I love it! This is my first time hearing it though. I adore [name_u]Holland[/name_u] nn [name_f]Holly[/name_f], and Hollyn just sounds and looks so adorable to me.
I love it!!! I don’t love the nn [name_f]Holly[/name_f], but I’m not big on nn in general. If you have a beautiful name, use it! And this falls in to that category! It’s a lovely name!
I don’t dislike it, and I wouldn’t call it trashy, but it does feel a bit made up, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I do prefer [name_u]Holland[/name_u]. I feel like Hollin might be a better spelling than Hollyn. The “y” can often make a name look like a trendy, made up spelling, but I think that’s less of a problem with the “i.”
Hollyn is pretty but I would stick with [name_f]Holly[/name_f] because it sounds like the masculine name [name_m]Colin[/name_m]. I agree with PP, I prefer [name_u]Holland[/name_u].
It’s not for me. It seems trendy and would make sense with similar names out there (I know Jamesyn, Allysin and [name_f]Madilyn[/name_f] from my sons’ classes and play ground friends) but I don’t like the concept at all.
I like simple [name_f]Holly[/name_f]. [name_u]Holland[/name_u], [name_u]Hollis[/name_u], Hollyn, etc., I can see the appeal of, but I like [name_f]Holly[/name_f] just fine on its own.
I like Hollin okay. [name_u]Holland[/name_u] sounds cultured, [name_u]Hollis[/name_u] sounds preppy, and [name_f]Holly[/name_f] sounds just a tad Christmasy.
Hollyn does sound made up and trendy to me. I wouldn’t say “trashy” but I personally tend to associate kreatyv spellings with that demographic.
Honestly I do like it.
I agree that the spelling Hollin might be ‘better received’, but I don’t think it sounds ‘trashy’ or made up. It’s a nice alternative to [name_f]Holly[/name_f]
