Opinion on Girls' Names

I love old and little-used names for girls (particularly, I like names that are at least unusual in the region in which I live). I like soft, feminine names such as [name]Flora[/name] and [name]Rosamunde[/name]; however, I also like a few other names that are rare in my area, but have a different sound. For the most part, people make faces when I mention these names, so I would like a [name]Berry[/name] opinion:)

Here they are:
[name]Ingrid[/name]
[name]Sybil[/name]
[name]Gwendoline[/name]

[name]Ingrid[/name] – To me, this sounds too Old World, or like someone who was not born and raised in an English-speaking country. There’s nothing wrong with that at all, but I don’t want people making wrong assumptions about my child before ever meeting her. I put this in the same category as [name]Olga[/name].

[name]Sybil[/name] – I like this. People may not know how to pronounce it, but it has a very nice sound when said correctly. Makes me think of the names [name]Silvia[/name] and [name]Cynthia[/name].

[name]Gwendoline[/name] – This could actually be really cute, but I would go with the traditional spelling of [name]Gwendolen[/name]. I like the possibility for the nickname [name]Wendy[/name], which is cute when you think about [name]Peter[/name] [name]Pan[/name] even though it’s dated. I knew a baby named [name]Gwyneth[/name] born about…whew, I guess about seven or eight years ago now. I was stunned that they had picked that name, but appreciated that it wasn’t a sickening Top Ten name like everyone else was using.

I don’t love any of them, but none are awful. [name]Sybil[/name] is much more cute to me since it’s appearance in Downton [name]Abbey[/name]! I think it will make a comeback for sure.
