Opinion on Peridot

What is your overall opinion on the name?

I think [name_f]Peridot[/name_f] is interesting and feels mystical. [name_m]An[/name_m] interesting gemstone name that I think would be an intriguing middle name maybe something like [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] [name_f]Peridot[/name_f] or [name_f]Soraya[/name_f] [name_f]Peridot[/name_f] would be sweet. However not keen on [name_f]Peridot[/name_f] as a first name I think the name could be hard to wear as a first name.

I quite like [name_f]Peridot[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- it has a nice cadence to it and I like the greenish hue it gives off. It’s bold and mystical but also grounded slightly by the similarity in sound it has to the more familiar [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] or [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- plus nicknames [name_f]Peri[/name_f] and [name_m]Poe[/name_m].

I think I’d personally put it in the middle spot but I’d like to meet one

It kind of sounds like a millennial slang word so old people might laugh at it, but i think it’s pretty! I do like more common names like [name_f]Ruby[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Opal[/name_f], [name_f]Jade[/name_f], etc better tho

I actually quite like [name_f]Peridot[/name_f] as a first, especially with the nickname [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] :blossom:[name_f][/name_f] It definitely is a bold choice.

[name_f]Peridot[/name_f] has grown on me! I used to work with a nurse named [name_f]Peridot[/name_f]. Patients usually loved it and would often comment on it!

[name_m]Steven[/name_m] Universe the amazing tv show had one but pronounced the t…..that is why I would hesitate to use it

I thinks it’s cool, and the gemstone is pretty. However the fact that it’s both correct to pronounce it as perry-dot & perry-doe would drive me crazy.

I literally only heard it pronounced with a sounding T

[name_f][/name_f]

Perry-doe to me sounds like a Play-Doh Knockoff

I adore [name_f]Peridot[/name_f]! [name_f][/name_f] I agree that it probably works better as a middle, but I think she’s so unexpected and lovely. [name_f][/name_f] I love the idea of something like [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_f]Peridot[/name_f] or [name_f]Odilia[/name_f] [name_f]Peridot[/name_f] or [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] [name_f]Peridot[/name_f]!

I like it much better than Ruby, Pearl, and Opal;

but as others have said - I see it as a middle

I don’t find it very wearable tbh, and I’m never quite sure how to say it. [name_f][/name_f] [name_f]Love[/name_f] the gemstone and the colour though :blush:

Doable and lovely as a middle!

From what I understand perry-dot / pear-a-dot is the common american (and british?) way of saying it. However when used or speaking about the gemstone in jewelry or with a jeweler (or of course in a heavily french influenced community) perry-doe or pear-uh-doe is more correct/common.
