Hi! I’m considering this combo Rocío (ro-thee-o) Verónica. Both are very commons names in Spain but we’re moving to London (brit husband) and I’m not sure if Rocío (spanish for dew) is a very unusual name or too stranger so I’m giving a second, and more international, option with Verónica.
Not sure if it sounds too spanish but I would like to keep some spanish flavour xD My husband also like Rocío Victoria.
The nickname could be Ro due it’s a ro in both names or maybe Vero, very usual nn for Veronica here.
I’m overthinking about all this and I’m a mess

[name_f]Rocío[/name_f] is pretty but its pronunciation might be more challenging. Of course she could go by [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] as a nickname. Im in the US though so maybe less of an issue in [name_u]London[/name_u]. And yes of course [name_f]Ro[/name_f] works too!

[name_u]Rocio[/name_u] [name_f]Veronica[/name_f] is stunning - but I do think at first people in the UK would say Ro-cee-o or Ro-shee-o at first, but that could be corrected easily enough

Yes I would think you’ll get Rock-io, Ross-io or even Roch-io before a TH. It seems to have the Ro-See-o pronunciation on Nameberry and elsewhere - assuming it’s a dialect variation but just to say some might think it’s this version…

Agreed. It’s such a pretty name though and I love your idea of Ro as a nickname because it’s in both parts!

Yes, that Ro-See-o pronunciation its very usual in southern Spain, kind of Andalusian accent (with that gypsy-flamenco touch)
Ro-thee-o its the correct form but can be a little posh sometimes

[name_f]Rosie[/name_f] is a lovely nickname. Roci is also a nn for [name_f]Rocío[/name_f] and it sounds very similar, maybe with a softer sound for the S.
Thanks!!
Yes, we’re not used to so short nickname and could be a little weird, but I love it!

Chío (tchee-o shee-o) its also a nn (kind of baby-talk) for [name_f]Rocío[/name_f] so it could be fun
Thanks!!

Thanks everyone for your time and kindness!! Your comments are really helpful to me

One of my best friends is a [name_f]Rocío[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ro[/name_f]
I agree the pronunciation could be tricky for non-Spanish speakers, but not a big deal.
[name_f]Rocío[/name_f] it is too Spanish, but it’s also too beautiful!

While people may not pronounce her name correctly at first glance… she’ll meet people who will in her life. These names are absolutely beautiful! I adore [name_f]Ro[/name_f] as a nickname, too. Not only is it intuitive for Spanish and [name_f]English[/name_f] speakers, it’s just so bright and cool. [name_f]Rocío[/name_f] is a gorgeous way to honor her Spanish heritage and the love of her family!
