My husband and I finally agreed on a name for if our child is a boy. We find out in [name_f]February[/name_f] what the gender is, but I’d like to have names picked out just so that we can get used to them to make sure we like them. If it’s a girl, her name has been picked for two years already and it’s not changing. She will be Korra [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_m]Forrester[/name_m]. Reluctantly, I allowed him to keep this name for our son:

[name_u]Kai[/name_u] Woodford [name_m]Forrester[/name_m]

Woodford is a family name and one of his middle names, so he begged to pass it on. And he loves [name_u]Kai[/name_u] for some reason. That’s the only name he likes that I tolerate.

What do y’all think?
Thanks

I like [name_u]Kai[/name_u], though I think it’s a little trendy thats not really a bad thing. I like the contemporary [name_u]Kai[/name_u] with classic Woodford.

Plus- in the future [name_u]Kai[/name_u] and Korra are a very darling sibling set.

[name_u]Kai[/name_u] isn’t bad, but also not my favorite. If you are looking for short modern names, have you thought [name_m]Jett[/name_m]? There are also lists on nameberry on that subject, if you’re interested. [name_u]Kai[/name_u] is on it  173 Short Baby Names | Nameberry

It’s not bad, but definitely trendy. [name_u]Kai[/name_u] and Korra do go well together.

Thank y’all! I love them together as well. Especially with the 3 syllables. [name_u]Kai[/name_u] wasn’t my favorite because it’s so trendy, but it’s not popular here in my state at all. It’s only used as a nickname. I appreciate all the options and other name options

[name_u]Kai[/name_u] definitely isn’t bad though looks a bit out of place with the rest of the name (this is not a bad thing of course, merely an observation and sometimes it’s nice to have one name stand out among the whole). I honestly love Woodford!

One thing to consider: you are set on Korra for a girl, if you plan on having more children there is a strong chance you will have a Korra down the road even if this first baby is a boy. So you could end up with the sibset of [name_u]Kai[/name_u] AND Korra. For those that love alliteration with name sets this would be great, but some find that too matchy. So depending on your and your husband’s preferences there, [name_u]Kai[/name_u] might be perfect, or may be worth re-examining.

I love [name_u]Kai[/name_u] and I don’t normally like super trendy names. I’m Swedish and [name_u]Kai[/name_u] (spelled [name_u]Kaj[/name_u] in Scandinavia) is a pretty common, old name meaning “earth” (or harbour when directly translated to Swedish). Have you considered Kailand?

Honestly, I dislike [name_u]Kai[/name_u]. I dislike the girl version of [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] as well. I find it deceptively hard to say. I do like Korra.
