I’m looking for non-biased opinions on the name [name]Hart[/name] for a boy.
I love the name, but feel it is a little too short to fun to carry a kid through life. I could see an artist named [name]Hart[/name] a baseball player sporting [name]Hart[/name] on the back of his jersey, but maybe not a lawyer or Dr. with an office door that says [name]Hart[/name]. Thinking [name]Hartley[/name] instead, using [name]Hart[/name] for short.
I’m in love with the name and nearly everyone I ask loves it, however, my husbands family feels differently, STRONGLY!!
[name]Hartley[/name] [name]Day[/name] Wiler??
What are your thoughts?
Also, any other suggestions for unique names, not off the wall, but not commonly used?
While it’s not my personal style, I like [name]Hartley[/name] as a full name, and [name]Hart[/name] for a nn. Not sure about [name]Day[/name] for a middle name. Is that a family name? Maybe [name]Cooper[/name], [name]Brooks[/name], [name]Benton[/name], or [name]Martin[/name], or something in that vein?
What does your husband think of the name? Family input is all well and good to let them feel involved with the baby early on, but unless they’re a) giving birth to the child, and/or b) raising him without you around, then what they think about the name really doesn’t mean squat. If you and your husband both like the name, then that’s that. I’m sure once they meet him, they’ll love their grandson/nephew/cousin no matter what you name him.
[name]Day[/name] is a family name. However, if we go with [name]Hart[/name] for a first name we will want a longer middle name for sure. Thoughts on that? Another name option is [name]Brynn[/name], I think it’s cute, but I like boy names to have a sharp sound [name]Hart[/name], [name]Jake[/name], [name]Chase[/name]…[name]Brynn[/name] sounds a little dull to me, thoughts? This baby naming thing is hard!
I prefer [name]Hart[/name] over [name]Hartley[/name]. In fact I really love [name]Hart[/name]. What about [name]Hart[/name] [name]Sebastian[/name], [name]Hart[/name] [name]William[/name], [name]Hart[/name] [name]Jackson[/name], [name]Hart[/name] [name]Cooper[/name], or [name]Hart[/name] [name]Quillan[/name]?
As for [name]Brynn[/name], I’ve only ever thought of it as a girls name.
I like [name]Hart[/name] but I’m not brave enough to use it as a first name, only as a middle. I like short, crisp one-syllable middle names anyway. I’m a little concerned that rather than thinking of it as an animal name people will just think of hearts, as in hearts and flowers, which gives it a rather girly feel.
[name]Hale[/name] is another one I keep returning to as a middle name.
I prefer [name]Hart[/name] to [name]Hartley[/name]. I do like [name]Heath[/name], though, and it has a similar nature quality.
I love [name]Hart[/name], it’s one of my favourites. I know what you mean about it maybe seeming a little short and nicknamey, but I really prefer it over longer options like [name]Hartley[/name], so I plan to use it as [name]Hart[/name]. Or maybe [name]Harte[/name]. I also like the PP’s suggestion of [name]Heath[/name].
If you go with [name]Brynn[/name], I would suggest the spelling [name]Bryn[/name]. [name]Brynn[/name] seems to be a girl’s name in th US. In the UK, and specifically [name]Wales[/name], [name]Bryn[/name] is exclusively a boy’s name. Similar names are [name]Bran[/name] and [name]Bram[/name].
