Opinions/help narrowing down our list, please! =]

Hello all–

DH and I are attempting to narrow down our list. We have a lot of names we like, but can’t seem to choose favorites. We go back and forth every day it feels like. haha Anyway, I’d love opinions on our list so we can, hopefully, narrow it down some.

[name_u]Everett[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m] - [name_m]John[/name_m] is an honor name for my dad and DH’s stepdad who both passed away
[name_u]Cade[/name_u] [name_m]Anson[/name_m] - [name_m]Anson[/name_m] is a family name
[name_u]Emerson[/name_u] [name_u]Shaw[/name_u]- [name_u]Shaw[/name_u] is a family name
[name_m]Dawson[/name_m] [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m]
[name_u]Keaton[/name_u] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_u]Gray[/name_u] - I know [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] is popular…still one of my favorites, though.

Edit: Since originally posting this, we have also discussed Oliver Reid. Oliver John is a possibility, as well, since we’d like to keep the honor name if possible. =]

[name_f]TIA[/name_f] Berries!

I adore:

[name_u]Everett[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m]
[name_u]Emerson[/name_u] [name_u]Shaw[/name_u]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_u]Gray[/name_u]

What a lovely list of combinations! No matter which you choose, you’ll have a winner.

I love honour names, and [name_m]John[/name_m] seems like an especially meaningful one for you. Plus, [name_u]Everett[/name_u] is such a strong and handsome name with so much character. [name_u]Everett[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m] is definitely my favourite from your list.

[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] is a fantastic name too. [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m], perhaps? Or [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]?

Thanks for the feedback!

@claireelisewren: Thank you. =] We’ve thought about [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] and [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], both. haha We also considered [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_u]Everett[/name_u], but I think we prefer it in the middle more than as a first name. [name_m]John[/name_m] is also a bit of a fluid middle name in that it could be used with any name we choose as long as it sounds ok since it is such a meaningful name for us.

I think [name_u]Everett[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m] is an extremely handsome combo! [name_u]Everett[/name_u] is a refreshing, but not overly common choice, and the name [name_m]John[/name_m] has a sentimental significance to both you and your OH. The names flow really well together and sound lovely! I also really like [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] [name_u]Shaw[/name_u], although I think [name_u]Everett[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m] is the perfect combo!!

I must say I just adore [name_u]Keaton[/name_u] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m].
I think I’ve seen it before on this site and I can’t help but admire how clean and handsome it is!

I’m biased towards [name_u]Keaton[/name_u] because of the eclectic artist/singer-songwriter based in [name_f]England[/name_f] named [name_u]Keaton[/name_u] Henson. So to me the name [name_u]Keaton[/name_u] gives off very artistic and creative vibes. And [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] of course is just so perfect and jovial.

@celluarconfusion: Thanks for the feeback!

@roseofjune: I love that you used ‘jovial’ to describe [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] because that’s exactly how I see it, as well. Such an adorable, happy little name, but one that ages into a sophisticated and handsome name. I’ve never heard of that artist, but he has a good name anyway!

I love [name_u]Everett[/name_u]! These are all lovely choices

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Everett[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m], followed by [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_u]Gray[/name_u]. I also like [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] [name_u]Shaw[/name_u].

My favorite is [name_u]Keaton[/name_u] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]. It feels fresh and underused. [name_u]Keaton[/name_u] sounds like a sporty kid who gets along with everyone, and I agree with the “jovial” feel of [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]. I suppose I dislike [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_u]Gray[/name_u] for that reason–gloomy [name_u]Gray[/name_u] drags down the fun of [name_m]Oliver[/name_m].

Have you considered another version of [name_m]John[/name_m], like [name_m]Ioan[/name_m], [name_u]Evan[/name_u], [name_m]Ifan[/name_m], or [name_m]Sean[/name_m]? One of the 2-syllable ones might work better than the 1-syllable [name_m]John[/name_m] with some of your other names, for example: [name_u]Cade[/name_u] [name_m]Ifan[/name_m] or [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_u]Evan[/name_u].

I can’t decide between [name_u]Everett[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m] and [name_u]Cade[/name_u] [name_m]Anson[/name_m]. You have some seriously awesome family names.

[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] is one of my favorite names, but I would much prefer [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] to [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_u]Gray[/name_u]. Second choice would be [name_u]Everett[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m], followed by [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] [name_u]Shaw[/name_u].

@mt_mama and emmamay: Thanks for the feedback!

@oftenoverseas: I can see where you’re coming from with [name_u]Gray[/name_u] dragging down the fun of [name_m]Oliver[/name_m]. I guess I don’t think of dreary things when I hear the name [name_u]Gray[/name_u]. It just sounds like a handsome, elegant name to me. haha I hadn’t thought about using a variation of [name_m]John[/name_m], but I might look into that. [name_m]John[/name_m] is quite special to us, so I don’t know if using a variation would feel as meaningful, but it’s certainly an avenue to explore. Thanks!

@boyandgirl: Thank you! I thought so too. I’d never heard [name_m]Anson[/name_m] before and my mom was the one to suggest it, actually (her uncle’s middle name). I fell in love with it when I heard it. [name_u]Shaw[/name_u] is also from her side.

@loveandsunshine: We have also considered [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m]. =] If we decide to go with [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] over [name_u]Everett[/name_u], it’s likely we’ll use [name_m]John[/name_m] instead. Thanks!

I love Oliver, Everett, and Emerson so it’s hard to choose. You can’t go wrong with any of them. There’s also Oliver Grayson.

@autumnreverie: Thanks for the feedback! It’s nice to know [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] is still getting some love despite its popularity. The popularity is the only downfall of the name for me. It’s #31 in my state, so not the most popular, but still up there. I like [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_m]Grayson[/name_m]. It flows a bit better than [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_u]Gray[/name_u], actually. I’ll have to think on that one. =]
