I’ve been searching for some new girl names to add to my list, as many of my favorites are just too popular to use. Two names that I’m really liking lately are [name]Sonya[/name] and [name]Geneva[/name]. What do you think? [name]Sonya[/name] is very beautiful and a little mysterious imo, plus the meaning “wisdom” is just great. [name]Geneva[/name] is an alternative to one of my favorites, [name]Eva[/name]. I like that is has the option for the the nns [name]Eva[/name] or [name]Evie[/name] and it sound quite pretty to me ears. I’m worried about it being a city though.
Opinions on [name]Sonya[/name] and [name]Geneva[/name]?
[name]How[/name] do they sound with [name]Andreas[/name] and [name]Julian[/name]?
Also if you can think of any other girls names I might like throw them at me! I want something that is very feminine and not too popular, and they need to flow with [name]Andreas[/name] and [name]Julian[/name]. Thanks!
I love [name]Sonya[/name] and [name]Geneva[/name]. I completely agree that [name]Sonya[/name] is a wonderfully underused name with a great meaning. [name]Geneva[/name] is awesome as well, and has a great connection to [name]Geneva[/name], Switzerland is which is a beautiful place. If you’re really concerned with it being a place name then I might reconsider but I don’t think that its a big deal. I immediately thought of the [name]Geneva[/name] Convention, but then again I’m a history nerd so that makes sense! I think with [name]Andreas[/name] and [name]Julian[/name] they sound perfect. [name]Just[/name] exotic enough but not unusual or weird.
If you like [name]Eva[/name] some other options are:
[name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Elisheva[/name]
[name]Evadne[/name]
[name]Evalina[/name]
[name]Evelyn[/name]
[name]Geneva[/name] also brings to mind [name]Ginevra[/name] and [name]Genevieve[/name]. Here are some other names you might like as well:
[name]Petra[/name]
[name]Katya[/name]
[name]Portia[/name]
[name]Rosalind[/name]
[name]Marlena[/name] (I love the mar-[name]LAY[/name]-nuh pronunciation)
[name]Mila[/name]
[name]Catalina[/name]
[name]Helena[/name]
[name]Eugenie[/name]
[name]Leonore[/name]
[name]Sapphira[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name]
[name]Coralie[/name]
[name]Magdalena[/name]
[name]Althea[/name]
[name]Dorothea[/name]
[name]Adela[/name]
[name]Delfina[/name]
[name]Vienna[/name] (not with [name]Geneva[/name] though!)
I havent mentioned the name to my partner yet but I’m certain he will think of the [name]Geneva[/name] Convention too. He loves history.
I really like [name]Evalina[/name]. It has a lot of substance and style. [name]Do[/name] you think it is too much of a name for a little girl? It does have a lot of nn options though.
I love [name]Catalina[/name] too but her ln would start with a C as well. I’m not sure how I feel about alliteration.
Another name that sprang to my mind today was [name]Sylvia[/name]. What do you think? I think it is rather similar to [name]Lydia[/name] so I could see it coming back in style. And [name]Sylvie[/name] is quite cute.
I think that [name]Sonya[/name] is lovely! It will age well but is still cute enough for a little girl.
I also like [name]Geneva[/name]. My little sister’s name is Geneviva, which is similar but it doesn’t have the nn. [name]Eva[/name] or [name]Evie[/name].
Slyvia makes me think of the [name]Loch[/name] Ness Monster. I’m not exactly sure why so you might want to disregard that.
I think that they all go very well with [name]Andreas[/name] and [name]Julian[/name] and any combination would be an adorable sibset!
You might also like [name]Sylvie[/name] (“from the forest”) and [name]Neva[/name] (“white snow”) with [name]Andreas[/name] (“strong and manly”) and [name]Julian[/name] (“youthful”)!
My co-worker named her baby [name]Sylvia[/name] about a year ago and at first I remember thinking it sounded old and frail. But it has really grown on me, and I love the forest-y meaning. With other names from that time period coming back into style ([name]Mabel[/name], [name]Evelyn[/name], etc.), I could see [name]Sylvia[/name] becoming very fashionable (though not overly popular) soon.
I like [name]Sonya[/name] but prefer [name]Anya[/name] (though I guess this wouldn’t work with [name]Andreas[/name]…) And I really like [name]Geneva[/name], but I like [name]Genevieve[/name] even more. [name]Sonya[/name], [name]Geneva[/name], and [name]Sylvia[/name] are all really nice, though!
