Hubby and I are looking for a name for our daughters baby sister ! Our daughter will be 15 months old when the next baby comes. Her name is [name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u].
Our top contender for her little sisters name is [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. Opinions ?!
The only thing we are unsure about is how people would pronounce [name_f]Elena[/name_f] and whether it will cause confusion. Is it really a huge deal if there is sometimes emphasis on the E and sometimes more of an “A” sound? Americans have a lazy tongue so I feel like it would mostly be prounounced with an “uh” sound. Probably even by myself.
Also- I wonder if that new cartoon [name_f]Elena[/name_f] of Avalor will make it too popular ?
Any opinions on the pronunciation, popularity, the name itself, or anything at all would be greatly appreciated !
Pronunciation can be a little hard but I think with the name [name_f]Elena[/name_f], which is somewhat known, it won’t be too hard! It sounds beautiful with [name_f]Norah[/name_f]!
Personally I’m not a fan of [name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_f]Elena[/name_f] as sisters. The a end is repetitive, they feel very different stylistically, and it feels like trying to get [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] out of 2 kids names [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Nora[/name_f].
[name_f]Norah[/name_f] and [name_f]Elena[/name_f] sound like perfect sisters. Pronunciation may be an issue, it may not. Everyone I know pronounces it the same; Eh-[name_m]LAY[/name_m]-nah. I’ve never heard of [name_f]Elena[/name_f] of Avalor.
[name_f]Elena[/name_f] is a really pretty name! [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] flows really nicely and is the perfect sister name with [name_f]Norah[/name_f]! I’ve never heard of the character you mentioned and I’ve only met one [name_f]Elena[/name_f] before so I wouldn’t worry about it becoming too popular. Pronunciation may be an issue and she may have to correct people a few times, but it might not be an issue too. There also can be other spellings to the way you want it to be pronounced. ([name_f]Alaina[/name_f], [name_f]Elaina[/name_f], [name_f]Ellena[/name_f], etc.) [name_f]Elena[/name_f] is a great name:)
