Top 5:
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] - I love seeing this one used!
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] - underused and intriguing
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] - one of the most versatile and classic feminine names out there, one she could really make her own
[name_f]Liberty[/name_f] - love the nickname [name_f]Libby[/name_f]!
[name_f]Ruth[/name_f] - short, versatile, spunky, and very underused
Bottom 5:
[name_f]Anais[/name_f] - too close to anus
[name_f]Asia[/name_f] - not a fan of continent names, would be especially unfortunate if she’s overweight
[name_u]Darby[/name_u] - too close to derby, not an attractive name at all imo
[name_u]Hunter[/name_u] - far too masculine for a girl’s first name imo, maybe as a middle
[name_f]Melanie[/name_f] - too dated for my taste
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] “[name_f]Addie[/name_f]” - I have taught so many Addies I sometimes think students are named [name_f]Addie[/name_f] even when they aren’t, lol. I don’t recommend a name like [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] unless it’s THE one.
[name_f]Amethyst[/name_f] - love this name. The nn [name_f]Amy[/name_f] is a classic!
[name_f]Anais[/name_f] - so beautiful and underused, even though I’ve met several in [name_m]Quebec[/name_m].
[name_f]Asia[/name_f] - I love this name. I think it’s gorgeous, stylish, and obviously loaded with wonderful meaning.
[name_f]Camila[/name_f] - it’s pretty and easy to wear.
[name_f]Clemence[/name_f] - just a glorious name. I love saying it aloud and how it looks on the page.
[name_u]Darby[/name_u] - a lot of attitude. I wouldn’t like to meet a shy girl named [name_u]Darby[/name_u] because I’d be disappointed… to me [name_u]Darby[/name_u] is rock and roll or cowgirl!
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] “[name_f]Evie[/name_f]” - I think if you’re going to use [name_f]Evie[/name_f] I wouldn’t bother with [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]. [name_f]Evie[/name_f] is such a cool name on its own.
Haddie - usually this is spelled [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]. Alternatively, you could use [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] and just shorten it.
[name_u]Hunter[/name_u] - great name that falls into the same category as [name_u]Darby[/name_u], for me. I always think a girl with this name is going to be devastatingly beautiful but I don’t know where that idea comes from, lol.
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] - this stands out to me as if it doesn’t fit your style, compared to the rest of the names. It’s a quieter name. I know 2 Ingrids and I’ve always thought that neither of them suits the name.
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] “[name_f]Janey[/name_f]” - it’s stylish, but maybe a little bit too safe.
[name_f]Julianna[/name_f] - much more conservative than your other names. It’s romantic enough but lacking flair.
[name_f]Liberty[/name_f] “[name_f]Libby[/name_f]” - I like the meaning but I’d probably use “[name_f]Birdie[/name_f]” as nn.
[name_f]Margo[/name_f] - the trendiest name on your list. This is what “safe namers” pick when they want to seem adventurous. You are genuinely adventurous so I don’t think represents that.
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] - I like this better than [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. It has a lot of presence but doesn’t scream “look at me!”. Quiet strength but more musical than [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f].
[name_f]Melanie[/name_f] - a very beautiful name that is underused right now because of its popularity a few decades ago. Definitely deserves not to fade away. It looks like the sweetest name on this list, but still has a sophisticated air.
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] - I love [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]. This name feels kind and grounded, even though it also has some magic in it.
[name_f]Ruth[/name_f] - again, a kind name. Also feels ancient and a bit gothic. No one ever thinks that. If only [name_f]Stefanie[/name_f] what’s-her-name had named one of the Twilight vampires [name_f]Ruth[/name_f], lol. The nn [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] is amazing… I like it better than the trendy [name_f]Rosie[/name_f]!
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] “[name_f]Thea[/name_f]” - the fact that this is rising in popularity bugs me because of the number of Theos being born! I wouldn’t want my kid to be the only [name_f]Thea[/name_f] in a class with two Theos! It’s going to happen.
My favourites
[name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_f]Clemence[/name_f]
[name_f]Melanie[/name_f]
[name_u]Hunter[/name_u]
[name_f]Asia[/name_f]
[name_u]Darby[/name_u]
[name_f]Anais[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
and honourable mention goes to [name_f]Amethyst[/name_f].
Names I wouldn’t use at all are [name_f]Thea[/name_f], [name_f]Margo[/name_f], [name_f]Julianna[/name_f], Haddie, and [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f].
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] “[name_f]Addie[/name_f]” - an underused classis that is very noble and strong. You can get plenty of nicknames from it ([name_f]Heidi[/name_f]/[name_f]Adela[/name_f]/[name_f]Adela[/name_f]/[name_f]Addie[/name_f]). 6/10
[name_f]Amethyst[/name_f] - again its an underused name, even amongst jewel names. I’m not averse to using it as a middle name but I think it kind of sounds like a stripper name when used as a fn (sorry!) I do like the possibility of using [name_f]Amy[/name_f] as a cute nickname but I’m still not overly keen. 3/10
[name_f]Anais[/name_f] - It looks too much like Anus for me to like it which is a shame because I like the “[name_f]Anne[/name_f]” sound and [name_f]Annie[/name_f] would be such a cute nickname, I can imagine a child with this name being teased a lot and also its quite difficult to pronounce (I always thought it was a two syllable name when its actually 3!) 2/10
[name_f]Asia[/name_f] - Its unusual, exotic and very cool sounding but not to my taste. 5/10
[name_f]Camila[/name_f] - one of my favourite names, very elegant and graceful, love the possible nickname of [name_f]Millie[/name_f]/[name_f]Milly[/name_f], I personally prefer the spelling of [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] - 8/10
[name_f]Clemence[/name_f] - Very chic and elegant sounding, always reminds me of the super stylish [name_f]Clemence[/name_f] [name_f]Poesy[/name_f], prefer it pronounced the [name_m]French[/name_m] way. 7/10
[name_u]Darby[/name_u] - a bit too unisex for my liking, and it rolls on the masculine side, but its a cute enough name. 5/10
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] “[name_f]Evie[/name_f]” - its a beautiful name and used to be one of my favourites but its just so overused alongside [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] & [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]. Its a pity but that’s whats to be expected with such lovely names. If you’re not bothered about over used names, go for it. 7/10
Haddie - im not sure if you’ve misspelt [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] or if its meant to be [name_u]Hadley[/name_u]. It sounds made up and the Had is a bit too harsh with the ‘dee’ sound. The l of [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] really softens it if you wanted to use Haddie as a nickname. 5/10
[name_u]Hunter[/name_u] - again a bit too masculine for a girl in my honest opinion 3/10
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] - to me, this is still an old lady’s name and is far too mature for a baby/child/teen to carry. However, old names are coming back into fashion again so you may be ahead of the trend with this one. The Ing and grid sounds are just to harsh for a little girl. 3/10
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] “[name_f]Janey[/name_f]” - a bit plain but not as popular as it once was. I’d use the full name of [name_f]Janey[/name_f] ([name_f]Jane[/name_f] = 4/10, [name_f]Janey[/name_f] = 6/10)
[name_f]Julianna[/name_f] - its an ok name, just not to my taste. Prefer it to the alternatives of [name_u]Julie[/name_u]/[name_f]Julia[/name_f]. 5/10
[name_f]Liberty[/name_f] “[name_f]Libby[/name_f]” - very sweet and harmonious, [name_f]Libby[/name_f] is an adorable nickname. Its a little too hippie chic for my liking but its still a lovely name with a beautiful meaning (especially if you’re American/[name_m]French[/name_m]). 6/10
[name_f]Margo[/name_f] - I adore this name, it’s really vintage but stylish and glamorous. 9/10
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] - Im a bit indifferent to the name [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] but its cute enough, appropriate for all ages and provides great nicknames ([name_u]Mattie[/name_u]/[name_f]Tilly[/name_f]) 7/10
[name_f]Melanie[/name_f] - I think this name, whilst enough, is a bit dated (80s/90s) and I know quite a lot of girls my own age in the UK called [name_f]Melanie[/name_f]. 5/10
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] - I really like this name. It conjures up images of a rosy cheeked little girl who likes playing outside. I love the connotations of nature, and its a very fun and relaxed name. 8/10
[name_f]Ruth[/name_f] - All the Ruths I have known have been very kind, gentle and simple souls. It feels very Puritanical (just an observation, not a compliment/insult). 6/10
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] “[name_f]Thea[/name_f]” - one of my favourite names, its a classic and very elegant, but the nickname [name_f]Thea[/name_f] really modernises it. 10/10
