What are your opinions of the name [name_m]Rhett[/name_m]?
I love, love, love it! It’s one of my favourite nicknames - I couldn’t imagine it as a stand alone name but as a nickname for [name_u]Everett[/name_u]!
[name_m]Rhett[/name_m] reminds me of [name_u]Brett[/name_u], and if [name_u]Brett[/name_u] can stand alone I don’t see how [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] couldn’t.
I like [name_m]Rhett[/name_m], although I love it as a nickname for [name_u]Everett[/name_u].
[name_m]Rhett[/name_m] butler! I do love Gone With the Wind… It’s very very southern sounding to me so I wouldn’t use it but it’s also quite handsome!
I agree with everyone. For me, [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] doesn’t stand alone for some reason, but I love it as a nn!
It kind of strikes me as a preppy 80’s name, which is nms, but I agree it could be a cute nickname for [name_u]Everett[/name_u]. I do think [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] would fit in with [name_m]Boone[/name_m] and [name_m]Crew[/name_m] though, and [name_m]Piers[/name_m] if that’s still on your list. (not that those are 80’s!)
[name_m]Rhett[/name_m] can definitely stand on it’s own! A friend growing up had a big brother with the name, but he is the only one I’ve heard of with it. I prefer [name_u]Brett[/name_u], but both are nice names.
Gone with the Wind’s [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] [name_m]Butler[/name_m] was kind of irritating to me (come to think of it so was [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] O’[name_f]Hara[/name_f]). I find it very harsh. I think it could standalone but I personally don’t find it appealing.
Ohhh, [name_m]Rhett[/name_m]. I like it because of ‘Gone With the Wind’ but I don’t think I’d use it myself.
I adore [name_m]Rhett[/name_m]! It is very handsome and fresh, to my mind. I like it as a standalone or as a nickname for [name_u]Everett[/name_u], too.
And Gone With The Wind reference… It is one of my very favorite books and [name_m]Clark[/name_m] [name_m]Gable[/name_m] portraying him 's one of the most attractive men in the world, so of course I love the association.
I immediately think ‘Gone With the Wind’ when I hear the name [name_m]Rhett[/name_m]. I love the association! I also like the southern feel of the name and disagree with the previous posters that it’s not a standalone name.
I don’t like it much. It sounds too harsh to me and too similar to fret and regret. Also feels very American imo. I really like [name_u]Everett[/name_u] though
Thank you all for your opinions. I am still unsure where I stand with the name. I do love the suggestions of [name_u]Everett[/name_u] “[name_m]Rhett[/name_m]”.
I love [name_m]Rhett[/name_m]! I think it is a fabulous name; I find it classically modern. I knew a verrrryyy handsome, 20-something [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] too, so that association always helps :-p
I love [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] so much. [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] is very simple, but it also sounds very firm and strong. I really have a sweet spot for southern names, and [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] is no exception. I like it better as a stand alone name, personally! At the same time, if I was ever to use it, [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] would probably be a middle name.
Makes me think of Gone With The Wind, I think it’s very handsome, but can only picture [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] O’[name_f]Hara[/name_f] yelling out ‘[name_m]Rhett[/name_m]! [name_m]Rhett[/name_m]!’ which kind of annoyed me.
I think [name_u]Everett[/name_u] nn [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] is 1000 times better. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband’s name is [name_u]Brett[/name_u] and it’s terrible, constantly confused with [name_m]Brent[/name_m], [name_u]Bret[/name_u], [name_m]Brad[/name_m], and even Bread! I know a boy named [name_m]Brock[/name_m] with the same experience. Maybe [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] would be better, but I think multi-sylabic names are more recognizable. What about [name_u]Barrett[/name_u] or [name_m]Garrett[/name_m] nn [name_m]Rhett[/name_m]?
