Opinions on Aria Needed!

I absolutely love the name [name_f]Aria[/name_f]. I saw it on the Today’s Most Popular Names list, and I fell in love. It is absolutely PERFECT for the main character in my story! But then, when I was looking for a good book to read, a book came up with the MC’s name being [name_f]Aria[/name_f]. The book isn’t too popular-- it’s Under The Never [name_u]Sky[/name_u], in case you were wondering, by [name_f]Veronica[/name_f] [name_m]Ross[/name_m]-- but it’s coming out into a movie soon and I don’t want people to think I copied her character. Their descriptions are a bit similar in looks (my [name_f]Aria[/name_f]'s description is below), but not in personality. I was hoping that I could get your opinions on whether I should keep [name_f]Aria[/name_f] or not. If I shouldn’t, please give more suggestions to what I should change her name to. Thank you!

Description of [name_f]Aria[/name_f]- her full name is [name_f]Aria[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_m]Knight[/name_m]. She is seventeen, with long dark brown hair and brown eyes. She is tall and has a tan. She is actually very beautiful, but she doesn’t really care what other people think of her. She is fiery and independent, and is very protective and loya to her close friends.

I think naming your MC [name_f]Aria[/name_f] is fine. Now, I’ve never read the [name_f]Veronica[/name_f] [name_m]Ross[/name_m] book, but [name_f]Aria[/name_f] seems perfect for your character. I’m currently reading a novel with an MC named [name_f]Aria[/name_f] and has a similar description to your [name_f]Aria[/name_f], but it shouldn’t matter. What you want to name her is up to you. If [name_f]Aria[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_m]Knight[/name_m] is perfect, go with it.

I totally agree with theb4ndit I have never read or even heard of the other book and [name_f]Aria[/name_f]'s a popular name, so I can’t see anyone thinking you copied the other book  I wouldn’t change it and the name suits your character well, but if you are looking to find an alternative I think that the name [name_u]Reese[/name_u] could also suit your character  Good luck with your writing!!!

[name_f]Aria[/name_f] is fine, though I generally prefer [name_u]Arya[/name_u] spelling. As long as the name wasn’t specifically created or chosen for a character in another book (i.e., don’t name your character [name_f]Katniss[/name_f], Bitterblue or [name_f]Daenerys[/name_f]), I wouldn’t be too concerned. [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] seems a tad softspoken for her, though.

As long as there aren’t any similar names between your book and Under The Never [name_u]Sky[/name_u], I think it’s fine.

I think [name_f]Aria[/name_f] is becoming a very popular name, so I don’t see the issue with using the name for your story. I predict that the name [name_f]Aria[/name_f] will start popping up everywhere, and if you like it then go for it.

There’s also [name_u]Arya[/name_u] from the series ‘A Song of Ice and [name_m]Fire[/name_m]’ (if you’ve not read the books you’ll know it as ‘A Game of Thrones’). She’s a main character.

I also prefer the spelling [name_u]Arya[/name_u] but maybe not the best option for you with the Game of Thrones association. I think using [name_f]Aria[/name_f] as a main character’s name would be fine.

[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] has a similar feel; good option in place of [name_f]Aria[/name_f].

[name_m]Ah[/name_m], but we mustn’t forget His Dark Materials! Surely those books are more famous than Under the Never [name_u]Sky[/name_u]?
