I’m desperate for some advice! [name_f]Baby[/name_f] girl is due very soon and I still haven’t settled on a name. Had my heart set on [name_f]Harper[/name_f] but after a lot of thought it completely clashes with our surname.
Second choice is [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. Our other daughter is [name_f]Riley[/name_f] so I’m unsure if they work together as they sort of rhyme.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_f]Riley[/name_f] and [name_f]Isla[/name_f] sound good together?
Other names we liked but can’t use are [name_f]Mackenzie[/name_f], [name_f]Addison[/name_f] and [name_f]Milla[/name_f] (close fam/friends have used them).
I don’t think they sound similar and they have different styles. So, they are different enough if that is what you are after. They do sound nice together Go for it!
Riley and Isla work to me - while they share that ‘EYE-L’ sound, the difference in style make them feel less similar? And while the style is different, they feel cohesive, since they both feel contemporary
I would be hesitant to go with Isla because of the shared sounds with Riley. The long ‘i’ sound is stressed in both names which makes them sound similar. Everyone has a different threshold for this so it only matters how you feel about it.
If you’re open to suggestions, I’ve left some below.

To my ear, [name_f]Riley[/name_f] and [name_f]Isla[/name_f] are too close. As a mom of three, I can easily see myself calling out, “Rila! Iley!” because the names would get twisted up in my mouth from calling them together so often.
They share a lot of the same sounds and are very different styles. But if you like them then I would use it. Other suggestions
[name_f]Riley[/name_f] and
I actually know a brother and sister named [name_f]Riley[/name_f] and [name_f]Isla[/name_f] and I have never really said their names together so was never really bothered by the sound, but I do think they are pretty matchy. If you love them though, go for it!
I do see how they are similar, but don’t think that similarity makes them unusable. I think the different ending sound and the different style makes them work.
