Hey everyone!
I’m currently writing a book, and I really need opinions and thoughts on a character’s name. She is a relatively famous singer and musician with long, wavy blondish-brownish hair and hazel eyes. She has a kind of old-fashioned, romantic vibe about her (think [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] [name_u]Monroe[/name_u]) but is also very independent and headstrong. Currently I am strongly considering naming her ‘[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_u]Marian[/name_u]’ (or [name_u]Marion[/name_u], let me know if you like that spelling better). There’s a lot of meaning behind this name for me, as that is what I like when naming my characters. So mainly I’m wondering if you think this name fits the character and/or overall what you think of the name. I would greatly appreciate any help whatsoever!
(Also, feel free to ask me any questions.)
Is [name_u]Marian[/name_u]/[name_u]Marion[/name_u] her last name or her middle? I think [name_u]Marion[/name_u] works best if you’re writing in the past but if your book is set in the present/future [name_u]Marian[/name_u] works perfectly well.
Hopefully this helps some!
I definitely like [name_u]Marion[/name_u] better, more of the romantic vibe you were talking about. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a suggestion, but maybe her name could be “[name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_u]Marion[/name_u]” and her friends can call her “[name_f]Emma[/name_f]”. It just sounds more complete as a name, but it’s up to you.
Cheers,
The Tomato Box [name_f]Fairy[/name_f]
It’s her last name
I prefer [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_u]Marian[/name_u]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_u]Marion[/name_u]. [name_u]Marian[/name_u] makes it so there’s too many a’s and it looks a bit awkward to me.
Is the story set in the past or present? If it’s set in the past, than [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_u]Marion[/name_u] would work best, but if not, go with [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_u]Marian[/name_u].
