Opinions on Chelsea

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]!
What do you think of [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]?
I absolutely love it and it might even make my top 10!
It’s so pretty and unusual (especially in my area). I’ve never met anyone called [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] but I would love to!
Thanks,
[name_f]Ellie[/name_f] xx

I quite like [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]. I think it was a boom in the 1980-s thus a bit dated and it makes me think of [name_u]London[/name_u] are but [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] is still…nice,

My best friend’s name is [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u], so I really do think the name is beautiful. As mclevine said it was pretty popular in the 80s, but I think it is a gorgeous name that deserves a place in your Top 10, especially if you love it!

I really like it! I know a few, but not many at all. It’s a cute sound, and energetic to boot. I give [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] a thumbs-up.

Honestly, [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] is forever tainted for me. I went to school with 3 or 4 [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]/Chelsies and they were all chavvy girls, one of whom really bullied me. Other Chelseas I’ve since come across [name_m]IRL[/name_m] or on TV, in books/magazines etc have been very similar. I don’t think it has the greatest image in [name_f]England[/name_f] and it is dated.

But I think it fits quite well with [name_f]Ashlyn[/name_f], [name_f]Alana[/name_f] & [name_f]Bianca[/name_f] from the names in your signature.

[name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] will forever be tied to the 80’s/90’s for me, I think I went to school with 6 of them so I’m not a huge fan

My name is [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]. I’m changing it, so I’m obviously not a big fan (it’s nice to hear that someone likes it though ^_^). I don’t know about where you live, but [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] is very common and It was also very popular/trendy around the time I was born (I was born in 1993). Idk how popular it is in [name_f]England[/name_f], but it’s been in the top 500s here ever since. I’ve lived in three different states, and I always had to use my last name initial in school and other activities. I’ve met a bunch of [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]'s (spelled all different kinds of ways). Nothing about this name is unusual in my opinion. It’s so common and constantly overlooked. I have never been complemented on my name in my almost 20 years of life. [name_u]Ever[/name_u]. The best I’ve ever felt about my name is neutral. [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u], for a lot of different reasons, just feels “off” to me (which is why I’m changing it). I’m not trying to turn you off from [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u], and there’s nothing wrong with it. This is just my personal opinion and experience of living as a [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]. Not all [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]'s feel this way of course!

Best football team, but don’t like it for a name.

I agree with @charlieandperry1 . I don’t know where in [name_f]England[/name_f] you are from but where I live it is definitely a chavvy name. And the only kids I have heard it on lately all have rough parents and they spell it, [name_f]Chelsee[/name_f]!

I love the name [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u], always have, always will. Actually, all the chelseas I’ve ver met have been sweet. It means Safe [name_u]Harbor[/name_u].

I adore it too!
This is one of the names I can’t stop pronouncing. [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] has such a soft sound.

I agree with @misstrash and @charlieandperry1 - it’s all football team and smart [name_u]London[/name_u] district to me. Sorry!

I’m not a massive fan of [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u], but I used to love it  I think I went off of it because as I got older, I went from knowing 0 [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]'s to knowing 5-6 [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]'s(and [name_f]Chelsey[/name_f]'s). I don’t mind it, but I do think the [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] FC connection’s another turn off for me, (I’m a [name_m]Man[/name_m] U fan, and I don’t like [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] FC in the slightest, haha). If you like though, I don’t see many reasons not to use it other than football and chavvy examples, but then again, I’m sure there’s posh [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]'s as well.

The name is in my special “too” category: it’s too dated to the 80–90’s period, too cutesy, has too many spellings and has too many negative associations as the pp’s have stated.

My name is [name_f]Chelsie[/name_f] and every time I have looked my name up, it says “boat port”. I definitely like safe harbor more though!

I’ve never had any specific feelings towards my name. There are so many [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]'s in this area. No one has my spelling though, which I actually like. I think the “ie” looks better than the “ea” but I could be biased!

I have to say, I met a little girl at work the other day named [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] and it sounded so cute to me!

If you love it then go for it!

I know soooooooooooooooooooooooo many [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]'s! LOL. It’s a very cute name, but I would never use it. If you love it, go for it!

Lol, yes. I saw ‘opinions on [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]’ and thought ‘Well. Their manager is a jerk and I don’t like any of their players so… overall not a good one.’ Liverpool fan here

Ehm, [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] means chalk + landing place. A landing place for chalk or limestone by the river, it says in my history of [name_u]London[/name_u] book.

I grew up in [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u], and lived there for a few years in my twenties as well, I went to university there, it’s my football team and my parents have a flat there. So many good associations, but it’s not a name I find attractive. I’d expect a [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] to be chavvy.

I have taught/known so many Chelseas. sigh. It’s a pretty name, but I think it might have had its day.

There are a handful of names from the 80s that I have a soft spot for, [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u], [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f], [name_f]Amanda[/name_f], [name_u]Shannon[/name_u]. It’s a bit of a mom name now I think but I still like it. It was never as popular as, say, [name_u]Ashley[/name_u], so if you love it then go for it.
