Opinions on Eliana vs. Margot

What are your thoughts on choosing [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] or [name_f]Margot[/name_f] for our second daughter? Big sister is [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] (we call her [name_f]Vivi[/name_f] most of the time).
Keep looking? I’m torn between the two, my husband is leaning towards [name_f]Margot[/name_f].

I love love [name_f]Margot[/name_f]! It’s one of my favorites. It sounds smart, spunky, and sophisticated. [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] is pretty too. [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] however shares a similar sound with many other [name_f]EL[/name_f] and [name_f]Ana[/name_f] names. [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is much more distinct and unique sounding to me.

Agree. [name_f]Eliana[/name_f]'s pretty enough, but it just sorts of merges will all the uber-popular names: [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Elena[/name_f], [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Mia[/name_f], [name_f]Emily[/name_f] etc etc etc. [name_f]Margot[/name_f]'s a gorgeous name, feminine without being too girly (like [name_f]Vivi[/name_f]), and sounds wonderful with [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f].

I prefer [name_f]Eliana[/name_f]. I know I am in the minority, but I never like [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. It makes me think of maggot.

I like both, but I think that [name_f]Margot[/name_f] has much more personality.

[name_f]Eliana[/name_f]!!! Pretty and classy.
Only I know too many [name_f]Margot[/name_f]?

I like [name_f]Margot[/name_f] better. I think it’s interesting, in terms of sound–it’s a girls’ name that isn’t unisex or a surname name that ends in o–and I find [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] rather too frilly for my taste.

I like [name_f]Margot[/name_f] better. [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] is nice, but as many have already mentioned, it kind of blends in with many popular names, and that makes it feel more generic than it really is.

[name_f]Margot[/name_f] is more striking and has a little more personality to it. It also goes wonderfully with [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f].
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliana[/name_f], on the other hand, is a little too frilly for my taste.

Best of luck. =)

[name_f]Margot[/name_f] does it for me!

I love the name [name_f]Margot[/name_f] although I prefer the spelling [name_f]Margo[/name_f].

Good luck

I prefer [name_f]Margot[/name_f], especially with your daughter’s name, but also think of maggots. I like the spellings [name_f]Margo[/name_f] and [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] much better.

Eliana is gorgeous, though. I love your naming style!

This exactly. There is also of course the option of spelling [name_f]Margot[/name_f] as [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] to give it some of that same french flair that [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] has.

[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] and [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] sound and look like a perfect pair to me. ([name_f]Margot[/name_f] of course as well).

I prefer [name_f]Margot[/name_f].

I prefer it spelled [name_f]Margaux[/name_f] however. [name_f]Margot[/name_f] also makes me think of Maggot as a PP stated.

[name_f]Margot[/name_f]! [name_f]Vivi[/name_f] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f] are so spunky and awesome together!

No offence, but [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is just unattractive to me. That’s just my opinion though.
