Opinions on Elijah

So I really like the boys name [name]Elijah[/name] (nn [name]Eli[/name]), but have a daughter [name]Felicity[/name]. Is [name]Eli[/name] too close to [name]Felicity[/name]?

Also, I want the middle name to be after his father so it would either be [name]Elijah[/name] [name]Sven[/name] or [name]Elijah[/name] [name]Evan[/name]. Which do you prefer? Thanks!!

I think [name]Elijah[/name] ([name]Eli[/name]) goes fine with [name]Felicity[/name], I don’t think it’s too close.

I like [name]Elijah[/name] [name]Sven[/name].

I think it’s fine…unless you call them [name]Eli[/name] and Feli!!!

I really like [name]Elijah[/name]. I don’t think it’s too close to [name]Felicity[/name]. The ‘L’ sound is pronounced different. I prefer [name]Elijah[/name] [name]Sven[/name]. Does [name]Felicity[/name] have a nickname?

We generally use Lity as [name]Felicity[/name]'s nn… Although I prefer her whole name  Thanks for the input! Im probably just overthinking it!

I don’t find [name]Elijah[/name] or [name]Eli[/name] similar to [name]Felicity[/name] at all. Now I am starting to wonder if I am saying one of them wrong?!

I like [name]Elijah[/name] [name]Evan[/name]. Very handsome.

I prefer [name]Eli[/name] to [name]Elijah[/name].

[name]Love[/name] both [name]Elijah[/name] and [name]Felicity[/name]! I think they’re fine together, and Lity and [name]Eli[/name] are really cute together. If popularity bothers you, though, I’d reconsider [name]Elijah[/name]–in the past couple years, I have come across over 25 of them (and I promise, I’m not exaggerating! They’re everywhere here!), and it’s poised to enter the top 10 when the SSA name list comes out next month. I have never come across more people with any one name than I have come across Elijahs. I still love the name, though.

Good luck!

Yes, it’s definitely popular… Unfortunately!! I wish that my hubs and I could agree on [name]Elias[/name], but the only other [name]Eli[/name] name he likes is [name]Elisha[/name], which I find kind of feminine. If you all have any other [name]Eli[/name] suggestions, I’d be open!!

There’s always [name]Elliot[/name]. I think [name]Felicity[/name] and [name]Elliot[/name] would be lovely, too. I do like [name]Elisha[/name]–I know several, and they’re all definitely boys! I suppose you could do [name]Elia[/name]/[name]Eliah[/name] (eh-LYE-ah, sort of like [name]Elias[/name] without the “S”), but that seems even more feminine than [name]Elisha[/name]. You’re saying [name]Elisha[/name] like ee-LYE-shah, right?

Have to agree with ash- [name]Elliot[/name] seems like a better match with [name]Felicity[/name] than [name]Elijah[/name].

I like [name]Elijah[/name] [name]Evan[/name] best.

Unfortunately, [name]Elliott[/name] is not an option for us, but definitely a cute name!

I like it and think they go well together. [name]Both[/name] middles seem to work well.

I really like the sound of [name]Elijah[/name]. I don’t think [name]Eli[/name] is too close to [name]Felicity[/name] at all, I think it’s lovely symmetrical in style.

[name]LOVE[/name] these names… [name]Felicity[/name] and [name]Elijah[/name] - perfect

[name]Elijah[/name] [name]Sven[/name], I personally don’t like to end the first name with a vowel sound and then start the middle name with one as well.

[name]Eli[/name] is a cute nn but I love the full name even more

I really like [name]Elijah[/name]! Goes great with felicity. I like [name]Elijah[/name] [name]Evan[/name]!

I like [name]Elijah[/name] and think is sounds great with [name]Felicity[/name]. [name]Sven[/name] is pretty neat too.

If I were still having babies [name]Elijah[/name] would be on my very short list along with [name]Ezekiel[/name]. I can just see a little football player with the nn E Z being shouted out…LOL

I love [name]Elijah[/name]. A solid biblical name with a cool vibe. [name]Elias[/name] is also great, but i’m with you on [name]Elisha[/name]–I know at least one guy with this name, but I still can’t shake the feeling that name has a feminine sound. [name]One[/name] thing to remember–though [name]Elias[/name] isn’t as popular as [name]Elijah[/name], if you plan to call him [name]Eli[/name], remember that [name]Elijah[/name] and [name]Elias[/name] and [name]Elisha[/name] and perhaps a few others, along with standalone [name]Eli[/name], may all go by [name]Eli[/name], which may skew how popular the name really is. We found this to be true with our [name]Catherine[/name] called [name]Kate[/name]. I think [name]Catherine[/name] was at 151 when we chose the name last year, but since we call her [name]Kate[/name], she’s really in a category with not only all the [name]Catherine[/name]/[name]Katherine[/name]/[name]Kathryn[/name] variations, but also any [name]Caitlin[/name]/[name]Kaitlyn[/name]/Katelyns who go by [name]Kate[/name], as well as the standalone [name]Kate[/name] (175 at the time). Popularity isn’t everything, though–if you love a name, even if lots of people have it (or have had it throughout history), you will probably still love using it every day and will be happy with your choice. As a [name]Jennifer[/name] of the 1980s, there are both good and bad things about being one of many, but overal, I’m pretty satisfied with my name.

[name]Elijah[/name] [name]Evan[/name] sounds nice, and I don’t think the name or nn is too close to [name]Felicity[/name]
