Opinions on Francine

I think the name [name]Francine[/name] sounds quite vintage and sweet but I’m hearing people say it just sounds outdated. I also love the nn [name]Frankie[/name], especially since my fathers name is [name]Frank[/name]. Curious to see what you guys think of [name]Francine[/name]…

I think the -een ending is still too unfashionable. I feel it’s closer to [name]Darlene[/name] or [name]Jolene[/name] than [name]Coraline[/name].

Also, given the diminutive -ine and the [name]France[/name] bit, I feel it’s absolutely the perfect name for a toy poodle.

I know two Francines so I can’t imagine it on a poodle lol but they’re both over the age of 60 so I can’t imagine it on a baby that well either. That being said I still like it but I’m a fan of “ine” names.

I love French names and I love “ine” names - especially [name]Amandine[/name], [name]Ondine[/name] and [name]Sandrine[/name].

But you always judge a name by the people you know who have it - and sadly the only Francines I ever knew were girls at my high school who were very common, loud, bullies  Where I’m from, its something of a “common” and “rough” name.

But assuming that is NOT the case where you are from - the name itself is nice, and I like the reference to your Dad

I like it much better than [name]Francesca[/name] but prefer [name]Frances[/name] or [name]Franka[/name]…[name]Francine[/name] is ‘dated’ but I have no problems with that. I like [name]Jolene[/name] & [name]Claudine[/name] too.

[name]Frankie[/name] is so cute & I love that it has a family connection for you. I know a [name]Francine[/name] in her late 20s and it was very unique for that age group. I think it would be very unique on a girl today.

[name]Francine[/name] is great! I know that it is part of the [name]Maureen[/name]/[name]Darlene[/name] sound that is still out of date, but…it seems closer in spirit to [name]Josephine[/name] than [name]Darlene[/name], and [name]Josephine[/name] is definitely stylish. Along with [name]Evangeline[/name], [name]Angelina[/name], [name]Sabrina[/name], and [name]Athena[/name] (and, ah, [name]Jayleen[/name] and [name]Kayleen[/name]), I think the -ine/een and -ina/ena names might be making a gentle comeback. You’d probably get a few raised eyebrows, but it’s a great name and I don’t think it would sound weird to her peers. The nicknames [name]Frankie[/name] and [name]Francie[/name] sound entirely up-to-date. If you like it, go for it!

i know 1 francine who is a beautiful, smart, athletic woman in her early 30’s. I think it is a lovely name and would be adorable on a little girl! and [name]Frankie[/name] is adorable!

I don’t think [name]Francine[/name] is cute at all, still way too dated to the 50s and 60s set.

I really like [name]Francine[/name] nn [name]Frankie[/name]!
I slightly prefer [name]Franca[/name] or [name]Frances[/name] but [name]Francine[/name] is refreshing. And [name]Frankie[/name] is so sweet!

I live in a french/english community and [name]Francine[/name] is quite popular here. Most people I know with the name are between the age of 50 and 70, but I do know a few around 30 years old as well. To me it seems dated but not unusable.

I wouldn’t use it for my own children but it would be cool if I met a little [name]Francine[/name]. I [name]LOVE[/name] the nn [name]Frankie[/name] and although I like [name]Francesca[/name] more than [name]Francine[/name] I think you should use it.

Yes, Francine “sounds” dated but that’s because names ending in the “een” sound were popular after World War II and are now out of fashion. Who cares? Although I prefer Frances, I don’t mind Francine at all. I think it’s a solid, friendly and relaxed kind of name. A Francine may not rock any boat but she’ll be a good provider for her family and keep the home fires burning brightly. It’s a solid citizen and a grown-up name and the world always needs these types of people. I also like Kathleen, Maxine and Claudine as well.

My brother’s girlfriend’s name is [name]Francine[/name]. She is a very smart, kind and pretty girl! She was also the Homecoming [name]Queen[/name] for his graduating class of 2011. The name [name]Francine[/name] reminds me of her, so it would definately be on the table.

The name [name]Francine[/name] reminds me of a French [name]Princess[/name]. It is beautiful with a unique vintage flair. With my name being a plain [name]Fay[/name], I’ve always wished for something more distinctive with some sass like [name]Francine[/name]. I don’t go for the nn [name]Frankie[/name] or [name]Franny[/name], I think it makes [name]Francine[/name] loss its class.

I think Francine is a beautiful name! It has a presence, grace and passion. I’d use it in a heartbeat!

The first thing that comes to mind is [name]Arthur[/name]'s friend [name]Francine[/name] on the children’s program “[name]Arthur[/name].” But I think it’s a fine name, and once you name your child that, she will infuse it with her own flavor! They all do!

I agree with [name]Mischa[/name]. [name]Frankie[/name] is pretty stinkin cute! I too prefer [name]Frances[/name], but I think [name]Francine[/name] has its own charm.

[name]Love[/name] [name]Francine[/name]!!!

I grew up with a cute, spunky, girl named [name]Francine[/name]. She had a sister named [name]Yolanda[/name].

It’s on my list too since my grandfather is named [name]Frank[/name] in thought it would be a good way to honor him

I really like [name]Francesca[/name] too but it’s a lot of syllables for some people

The name seems [name]Francine[/name] is very feminine. It’s quite unique, so you don’t hear it to often. I’ve known 2 Francines that were younger than myself and I’m 21 now. [name]One[/name] was in my sister [name]Chelsea[/name]'s class during grade school. They were cheerleaders on the JV Squad together. [name]Francine[/name] was a perkie little girl who was always smiling and friendly. She moved to New [name]York[/name] before High School so, not really sure what she’s doing now. The other [name]Francine[/name] is our neighbor’s little girl, who is about 2 years now. She is such a smart little Cookie! It was fun to see her outside enjoying this past summer & toddling around now. I think [name]Francine[/name] is a beautiful name for a little girl.

It is odd that this topic is found on here. The name [name]Francine[/name] has been in my family for many generations. It has been used in some way as a first, middle, or even third (middle) name for all of the females on my father’s side. It is actually considered an aesthetic in our family. It is a name pertaining to a sense of the beautiful or to having a sense of artistic beauty; and a lovable character. My ancestory has many refined women with a sophisticated style and it is always associated with the name. [name]Francine[/name] is considered tasteful, elegant and chic. [name]Francine[/name] would never be given a nickname either. It is fashionable all on it’s own and a true component of European [name]Romance[/name]. I myself have the name and I am so proud to have given it to my little girl as well. [name]Evelyne[/name] [name]Francine[/name] [name]Alia[/name] [name]Stevenson[/name] who is one of an 8th generation of Francines in my family. I’m hoping that she carries on the tradition someday. That will really make me a proud grandparent someday.
