Opinions on Haddie

Looking for opinions on the name [name_f]Haddie[/name_f], and whether you consider it common, or more unusual?
I prefer to not have common names.
It is an option for us so she could be named after hubby ( name is [name_m]Adam[/name_m], childhood nn was [name_f]Addie[/name_f]) and I love the idea of it, but not if it’s considered popular at all. I haven’t heard it much, but I’m in a small town. Thanks for your opinions!

I like [name_f]Haddie[/name_f]! I also really like [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]! I think both are very uncommon, but fit in with today’s trends like [name_f]Addie[/name_f]. Perfect sweet spot name!

I’ve never met a [name_f]Haddie[/name_f] (or a [name_f]Hattie[/name_f], for that matter)! I love both. [name_f]Haddie[/name_f] feels warm, sweet, and spunky and I love the idea of it as an honor name for an [name_m]Adam[/name_m] :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I would consider [name_f]Haddie[/name_f] very unusual (it’s a new one on me!). But it has the benefit of familiar sounds. I think [name_f]Haddie[/name_f] is amazing!

I like it. I’ve never met one. [name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was to change it to [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] but hearing your sorry makes me think you should stick with [name_f]Haddie[/name_f]. I would make sure she had a more formal sounding middle name in case she decides [name_f]Haddie[/name_f] doesn’t age well for her. It’s always nice to have options!

Maybe you’d like the full name [name_f]Hadassah[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Haddie[/name_f]?

Some ideas for middle names:
[name_f]Haddie[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Haddie[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Haddie[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Haddie[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_f]Haddie[/name_f] [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Haddie[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]

[name_f]Haddie[/name_f] [name_f]Nora[/name_f]

I really love [name_f]Haddie[/name_f]. Such a spunky name! [name_f]My[/name_f] daughter’s middle is [name_u]Mattie[/name_u] after my husband, [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] and I still love the connection they share. Another way to honor [name_m]Adam[/name_m] would be [name_f]Ada[/name_f], which is also uncommon.

Haddie is what my daughter goes by. Her given name is [name_f]Hadassah[/name_f].

Haddie I think would generally be pronounced almost the same as [name_f]Hattie[/name_f], which is what a few others have already said. I think it sounds like more of a nickname though, and you said it is after a nickname your husband had. I would keep that as a nickname and choose a more formal name as a first that lends itself to having that nickname. I think it can be tough for a child to be given the name [name_f]Katie[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]/Katelyn or [name_f]Jenny[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f], or [name_m]Benji[/name_m] instead of [name_u]Benjamin[/name_u], for example, and grow up to be an adult that still has a childish sounding name especially when they are looking to join the workforce. A name that could lend itself to having [name_f]Haddie[/name_f] as a nickname:

Hadley

It’s currently ranked 112 in the U.S. (that’s where I’m from), so unlikely for her to have a classmate with the same name given it’s outside of the top 100.

Another idea, though, is choosing a name that gives itself the same nickname as your husband’s childhood nickname. [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], [name_f]Adalyn[/name_f], [name_f]Adriana[/name_f] or possibly [name_u]Addison[/name_u] are all good choices for [name_f]Addie[/name_f] and don’t sound too matchy with [name_m]Adam[/name_m]. [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] ranked at 305, [name_f]Adalyn[/name_f] at 160 or [name_f]Adalynn[/name_f] at 123 depending on your spelling, [name_f]Adriana[/name_f] at 250 or [name_f]Adrianna[/name_f] at 519 depending on spelling there, and [name_u]Addison[/name_u] at 47 which would be a more popular choice.

I’ve known a few Hatties but never a [name_f]Haddie[/name_f]! It’s sweet and strong at the same time -I like it

It’s not common but still sounds familiar because of its similarity with [name_f]Addie[/name_f], [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] and [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]. It’s nice.

I really like it!! I personally love it as a nickname for [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] :relaxed:

It’s nice but I feel like Hadley or Harriet nn Haddie would work better. Or Addison. I do like the idea of naming daughter after father (and mother after son); kind of bending the “rules” in a cool way! I’ve not met or heard of anyone named Haddie. The closest I can recall is a character from the tv shoe Parenthood who I think was Hattie anyway.

I’ll also point out that it is very similar in sound to daddy which might be annoying if that’s what your partner will go by. I’ve found myself annoyed by my name’s similarity to mommy/mom at times.

I have personally never met a [name_f]Haddie[/name_f] but I find the name incredibly sweet! I especially love the connection you made to your husband’s name. I believe it is not the most popular name but most definitely not too uncommon as I’ve heard and met many [name_u]Mattie[/name_u]’s and Hatties! [name_f]Haddie[/name_f] seems to be the perfect balance of a warm and spunky style!
