Opinions on joey?

Hey all! Recently, I have fallen in love with the name [name_u]Joey[/name_u] for a little girl. I’ve known of the actress [name_u]Joey[/name_u] [name_m]King[/name_m], but never really thought any thing of the name; however, I just spent 5 weeks as a counselor at a summer camp, and one of my coworkers “camp name” is [name_u]Joey[/name_u]. What are your opinions on the name? Is it still too “boyish” for a little girl? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it should be a nickname for something like [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]?

I think its a great nickname for a little girl. could be short for [name_f]Jolene[/name_f] or [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] or [name_f]Joelle[/name_f] or [name_f]Joanne[/name_f] ect.
I dont think i’d use it as a stand alone, but thats just me. Though i could, but you would run into the issue of explaining that [name_u]Joey[/name_u], your daughter, is a she. But probably only for the first few years. Eventualy people would catch on.

It is too nicknamey for me even for a boy. [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is lovely as well. [name_u]Joey[/name_u] makes me think of friends.

Boyish names for girls seem to be a trend anyway. So I doubt she’s going to have problems with that name.

I would use it as a nickname for any [name_u]Jo[/name_u]- name rather than using it as a stand alone.

I think it’s a cute nickname, but not substantial enough to be a full name. I don’t think it would age well as a full name, and I can’t picture it on a businesswoman or other professional.

It’s cute but since I’m a 90’s child, all I can think of is [name_u]Joey[/name_u] from [name_m]Dawson[/name_m]'s Creek though I think enough time has passed to where only moms would think of that by now

[name_u]Joey[/name_u] is good as is.

I agree with a few previous posters, I think it would be cute for a nickname for something like [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] but not a stand alone. I personally tend to not like unisex names, but I know it’s super trendy right now. I’ve heard the name [name_u]Joey[/name_u] a few times recently. I also would think of [name_m]Dawson[/name_m]'s Creek, but it was also my favorite show in highschool and I doubt too many people today (at least younger people!) would make that association.

I think [name_u]Joey[/name_u] is fine as the name, and certainly works for a girl for me! I do like it short for [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] though - one of my favourite names.

I love [name_u]Joey[/name_u] as a girl name. Please do it. [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is… ehh… idk. I dont like it.
I hate when people say oh thats only for boys.

I like [name_u]Joey[/name_u] for a girl. It has something cute and nicknamey which works better for girls then for boys anyway.

I really have just never liked this name at all, I’m afraid. Not on a boy, and even less so on a girl. I do find it a little better than [name_u]Josie[/name_u], which I’m also not fond of. I adore [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], though!

I wouldn’t use it on its own. I would use it as a nickname for a name with “jo” in it.

I think [name_u]Joey[/name_u] is really sweet! It definitely is usable as a full name, but personally I’d rather it be a nickname.

[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is too outdated imo and I suppose so are [name_f]Joanne[/name_f] and [name_f]Joanna[/name_f]. I’d probably use [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] as a full name.

I love it. I watched the Kissing [name_m]Booth[/name_m] last night and [name_u]Joey[/name_u] [name_m]King[/name_m] is adorable. It made me want to use it! I would definitely use it as a nickname for [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] though, not on its own.
