Opinions on Lazare?

Lately I’ve been crushing on the [name_m]French[/name_m] name [name_m]Lazare[/name_m]. I love its sound and its beautiful meaning but I fear it might be a bit too unusual and difficult to pronounce.

What do you think about [name_m]Lazare[/name_m]? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you prefer any of its other variations such as [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m], [name_m]Eleazar[/name_m] and [name_m]Lazaro[/name_m]?

[name_m]Lazare[/name_m] is interesting and has an appealing look, though I admit I wanted to say [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m] when I read it. It might just be I’ve never come across it before

[name_m]How[/name_m] do you pronounce [name_m]Lazare[/name_m]?

The way I’m saying it in my head, I really like it… But I’m not exactly sure the right way to pronounce it.

I don’t mind it, though must admit, I do want to say la-[name_m]ZAIR[/name_m], rather than LA-ZAH® which I think is how it’s supposed to be said in [name_m]French[/name_m]? Also, lazar meaning “filthy, diseased, leper” isn’t the best, but from a Biblical stand-point with the character of [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m], and the related Biblical meaning of “(he whom) God has helped” it does make beautiful, the ugly.

I do enjoy O ending names myself, so [name_m]Lazaro[/name_m] is probably my favourite variation, as it just has a great, spunky, smooth sound. Also, [name_m]Lazaro[/name_m] seems to fit in well with the multiple Italian/Spanish names from your signature – [name_f]Chiara[/name_f], [name_f]Valentina[/name_f], [name_m]Leonardo[/name_m] & [name_m]Matteo[/name_m] – so it feels like a nice option for you that would mesh well with your favourites, also being pretty straightforward in regard to pronunciation.

I love it! It’s snappy, strong and interesting. [name_m]Lazare[/name_m] is my favourite variant but I’m generally very familiar with [name_m]French[/name_m] names (having [name_m]French[/name_m] family); [name_m]Lazaro[/name_m] is super-cool, springy and striking, and looking at your other name loves might be a better, more accessible option for you?

I’m not a fan, but because I’m [name_m]French[/name_m] I knew how to pronounce it. I have no clue how english speakers would say it. I prefer [name_m]Balthazar[/name_m] or Elzéar ([name_f]EL[/name_f]-ZAE-AHR) over [name_m]Lazare[/name_m]. Maybe [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m] nn [name_m]Lazare[/name_m]?

I love it! My favorite variation of the name is [name_m]Eleazar[/name_m] though. But [name_m]Lazare[/name_m] is great as well.
[name_m]Lazarus[/name_m] makes me think of being drunk, but [name_m]Lazare[/name_m] doesn’t really. I do think that the pronunciation could be a problem, depending on where you live.
