Opinions on Lux?

I’ve recently started liking the name [name_u]Lux[/name_u] again for a girl but I can’t tell if it’s a well liked name or not, what are your thoughts on it? and do you think it works with more modern names or could it work with more classic, traditional names? TIA😅

I do like it, I like how short and punchy and distinctive it is, plus the meaning is fantastic :sparkles:

[name_f]My[/name_f] only hesitation with it is that it does sound a bit like a brand name for a soap or feminine hygiene product or something!

I think it would work best with similarly modern sibling names, but could definitely pair well with a traditional/classic middle for a bit of balance.

It feels a bit posh but also light and silvery. I like it! I think it would work well with shorter names that aren’t super popular? I also think some whimsical word names like [name_u]Poet[/name_u] would work.

[name_u]Lux[/name_u] is pretty cool, I like the spunky x-ending. It reminds me a little of a lightbulb company or similar, but I don’t think that’s much of an issue. Works best with a longer name to balance it out, and an equally short, energised unisex names such as [name_u]Nova[/name_u] would make a great sibling.

I also like [name_u]Lux[/name_u] without being able to say why! Maybe I’m being swayed by the meaning. I agree, though, that it does remind me of the soap.

I love [name_u]Lux[/name_u]. It’s just cool and wearable for anyone of any style. I could imagine an artistic [name_u]Lux[/name_u], a dancer [name_u]Lux[/name_u], a librarian [name_u]Lux[/name_u], a singer [name_u]Lux[/name_u] and anything in between. It’s just so versatile. I think it could be paired with anything!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

I’m in the minority here, but I’m just not fan. It feels almost too…sexy? Like, I can only picture it on an exotic dancer. And not even in a trashy way. She’s a fancy exotic dancer! :joy: :woman_facepalming: I think that I’d be more on board w/it as a nn for something like [name_f]Luciana[/name_f].

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

I think [name_u]Lux[/name_u] is a cool name! For siblings, I think [name_u]Lux[/name_u] would work well with more modern names.

I love [name_u]Lux[/name_u]! It’s bright and fun! There’s a character in [name_u]Ali[/name_u] Smith’s novel [name_u]Winter[/name_u] and she really helped sell the name to me

I think it works with more modern names but it could work with more vintage revival names (Margo, [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], Ada)

[name_u]Lux[/name_u] is in our top 3. I’ve loved it for years after hearing it on Life Unexpected and my fiancee fell in love with it. I love the meaning, I think it sounds fresh and modern without being trendy. It’s simply but has some pizazz to it.

We have it paired with [name_f]Emmy[/name_f], [name_f]Vada[/name_f], and [name_u]Sloane[/name_u]. For boys, we like [name_m]Marsden[/name_m], [name_m]Finnick[/name_m], and [name_m]Roman[/name_m].

I like it. It reminds me of the character from the Virgin Suicides though.

I like it as a middle name option! I’m not really a fan of it in the first name spot. It feels too word like and exotic for a first name. It flows nicely as a middle name though.

I like [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_u]Lux[/name_u]. The flow is so sweet and spunky! I think it’ll be cool if she’s known as [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] in more formal places but [name_u]Lux[/name_u] between her friends and family and in fun environments like a summer camp or a party! I like the option of going by both [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] and [name_u]Lux[/name_u]! So beautiful

I’ve liked Lux ever since I read - and then saw - The Virgin Suicides. It’s really spunky and has a somewhat ethereal vibe because of the novel/film.

I think it goes best with names like Saskia, Alba, Rue, Willa, Nell, Ivy, Astrid, Della, Edie, Iris, Etta, Juno, Kit, Sunday, Noa, Beatrix, Frida, Ophelia, Tully, Uma, Allegra, and Zella, so basically a range of names from other short, sharp names, whether vintage or modern - or international, to unusual, ethereal longer names. Mythological names work well with it too I think, as do celestial names, and I quite like certain other x names with it, like Beatrix.

I also like Lux as a nickname for Lucia or Lucienne.
