The name [name_f]Mary[/name_f] has been haunting me for quite some time. I love it, but sometimes feel like it lacks a bit of gravitas or sparkle. [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is, essentially, a simple and straightforward name. I also love the huge amount of nickname options, [name_f]Mamie[/name_f] and [name_f]Mimi[/name_f] being my favorites. Another reason why I love [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is the fact that it was the name of some of my female idols: [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Shelley[/name_u] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f] Wollstonecraft, and being raised Catholic, also the Virgin [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. My childhood favorite film was [name_f]Mary[/name_f] Poppins, so if I ever had a little [name_f]Mary[/name_f] there’s a strong chance I would end up calling her Poppins or [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] as a pet name, lol.
I would really like to read more opinions of [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and please be brutally honest as always, berries! Would also be useful to know how well you think [name_f]Mary[/name_f] fits with [name_m]Peter[/name_m], [name_f]Sabina[/name_f], [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] and [name_m]Bruno[/name_m] as siblings. I know it obviously fits with [name_m]Peter[/name_m], but the vibe I usually go for is more literary (especially children’s book characters) and most of my favorite names are more what Nameberry categorizes as ‘exotic lite’ or international.
[name_f]Mary[/name_f], it’s a lovely, sweet and a classic name. You can’t go wrong with choosing it.
I think [name_f]Mary[/name_f] goes well with all the sibling names. [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] are adorable together… I love when “older” names come back into style.
I think [name_f]Mary[/name_f] fits perfectly with the names of your other children, it gives the same vintage feel as [name_m]Peter[/name_m], [name_f]Sabina[/name_f], [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], and [name_m]Bruno[/name_m], but [name_f]Mary[/name_f] also has more of a traditional and familiar feel than some of your children’s names, specifically [name_m]Bruno[/name_m] and [name_f]Sabina[/name_f]. [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is one of those names you can’t go wrong with, like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] or [name_m]John[/name_m]. I think it does [name_f]Mary[/name_f] does lack a “wow” or “sparkle” factor, but I feel the name makes up for the that with it’s simple and timeless charm.
I love [name_f]Mary[/name_f] because, like you, it reminds me of [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Shelley[/name_u]! I’ve also only met two little [name_f]Marys[/name_f] in all my time working with kids over the last seven years and both times, it suited them perfectly and felt really charming and lovely.
I feel like it fits with [name_m]Peter[/name_m] and [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] very well, and while [name_m]Bruno[/name_m] and [name_f]Sabina[/name_f] feel more unusual, I don’t think it stands out too much when placed besides them
I also adore [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and it fits well with [name_m]Peter[/name_m], [name_f]Sabina[/name_f], [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] and [name_m]Bruno[/name_m]
I love [name_f]Mary[/name_f]!! It’s simple, classic, and elegant, and has a ton of adorable nicknames. (100% would have used it but it sounds terrible with our surname).
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] fits in well with the sibling names, too!
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] is my all-time favourite girls’ name, so this is no impartial opinion!
I think it is the most beautiful name of all - I know most people think of her as being very tame and good-girl, but for me she has a touch of wildness along with her old-fashioned wholesomeness. It’s a very strong and powerful name, but also the gentlest of names. I can’t help raving when I talk about the name [name_f]Mary[/name_f] - she just shines for me!
I think she would fit nicely with [name_m]Peter[/name_m], [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] and [name_m]Bruno[/name_m], but might feel a bit plain next to the more exotic [name_f]Sabina[/name_f]. That shouldn’t be a problem, though, since they will grow up as individuals who will be able to appreciate the different beauties of their names. The nicknames [name_f]Mamie[/name_f] and [name_f]Mimi[/name_f] would perfectly fit the storybookish vibe of your gorgeous sibset.
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] is really straight forward and a name you can’t go wrong but I kinda prefer the spicy versions ~ and I think a variant will go well with [name_f]Sabine[/name_f] and [name_m]Bruno[/name_m] - [name_f]Mimi[/name_f] is an adorable nn
I think [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is very sweet and classic. I was going to add how I see it in the same category as [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f], sweet and charming and timeless, so I definitely think the name fits!
I love [name_f]Mary[/name_f]! It always strikes me as a leading lady type of name, like it would belong to the heroine in a story. It’s regal, sophisticated, and not too flouncy. The fact that it’s so uncommon and overlooked these days makes it all the more appealing to me!
My husband and I find it slowly creeping its way up our list, especially when we daydream about pairing it with exotic middle names. [name_m]Even[/name_m] the most outrageous guilty pleasure name sounds grounded next to it!
