Our first baby is due in a few weeks, and we’re pretty much set on naming her [name]Margot[/name]. (I know some people have strong feelings about alternate [name]Margot[/name] spellings but we prefer this version.) I keep getting stuck on a middle name, though.
Our last name is 2 syllables, and I think a 3-syllable middle flows best. I’d also really like something with some kind of meaning. We keep circling back to [name]Siena[/name]. My husband and I honeymooned in [name]Siena[/name], [name]Italy[/name], so it has special significance to us as a place name. It fits the 3-syllable criteria and is also nice because her initials would then be the same as my husband’s grandfather, whom he was really close to. And I think the names flow together nicely.
But something is holding me back a bit. I’m not normally into place names, though I think [name]Siena[/name] has moved beyond strictly place name with the [name]Sienna[/name] spelling. But is it too trendy to fit with [name]Margot[/name]?
My other idea is to find a name to honor a relative, [name]Patrick[/name]. But I’m not into [name]Patricia[/name] or [name]Patrice[/name] or any other [name]Pat[/name] alternatives that I’ve come across. Any creative suggestions are welcome!
