[name]Elena[/name] - gorgeous, timeless, always charming classic–I loved it in elementary school, and I still like it now (although I have to say, I prefer [name]Eleanor[/name], [name]Eleni[/name], and [name]Helena[/name] to [name]Elena[/name], but I still do love it!). [name]Even[/name] if I grew to love [name]Elena[/name] more than [name]Eleanor[/name], [name]Eleni[/name], and [name]Helena[/name], I doubt I would ever use it–my cousin has a daughter named [name]Alaina[/name].
[name]Diana[/name] - I used to love this in elementary school/middle school. I thought it was so timeless and classic. Now it feels really dated to me, but I can still appreciate it as a name.
[name]Kate[/name] - like it a lot. As a FN, I would use [name]Catherine[/name] nn [name]Cate[/name]/[name]Kate[/name] over just [name]Kate[/name], but I do like it a lot as a name. It’s honoring for me, so it is all over my list as a MN.
[name]Grace[/name]/[name]Gracie[/name] - another family name for me, and even if it weren’t, I still really love it. It’s charming and timeless no matter how popular it is. I actually dislike the cutesy [name]Gracie[/name] (sounds like the name of a pet to me, too), but I love just [name]Grace[/name].
[name]Brooke[/name] - I can see its appeal, but I know several guys with the name so I can’t really see it as a girls’ name.
[name]Vivienne[/name] - vintage, feminine, charming. I like it a lot for someone else’s daughter, but I don’t really love it for me. I do love the meaning, and the nn [name]Vivi[/name], though. And I much prefer this spelling to the others ([name]Vivien[/name], [name]Vivian[/name], [name]Vivianne[/name], etc.).
[name]Madeleine[/name] - I honestly love it. For some reason, something always holds me back from using it as a FN, but I love it every time I see it, and I adore the French pronunciation (which is almost like MAD-len). It’s so much fun to say in French.
I like that it has so many other nns if you want to avoid [name]Maddie[/name], too–[name]Leni[/name], [name]Dell[/name]/[name]Della[/name], Mad, etc…
[name]Elle[/name] - I like [name]Elle[/name] a lot, but I love [name]Ella[/name].
[name]Elodie[/name] - This is actually the name of my car, haha. Well, I’m trying to decide between [name]Elodie[/name] and [name]Alouette[/name], but I’m leaning toward [name]Elodie[/name], haha. I think it’s sweet, and I like the nns [name]Ella[/name], [name]Lola[/name], and [name]Lottie[/name], but I can’t really imagine using it for a daughter. [name]Hence[/name], a car name.
[name]Jade[/name] - sorry, this one seems incredibly tacky, stripperish, and dated to me. I honestly don’t see the appeal at all, sorry. I [name]LOVE[/name] the similar-sounding [name]Jane[/name], but I strongly dislike [name]Jade[/name]. Sorry.
[name]Audrey[/name] - love it. It’s classic, it’s glamorous a la [name]Audrey[/name] Hepburn, it’s down-to-earth, it’s feminine (but understated feminine). [name]Every[/name] [name]Audrey[/name] I meet has been delightful. I love it.
[name]Brenna[/name] - I’m torn. I can honestly see the appeal but I don’t love it. I know a teenage [name]Brenna[/name] who has completely ruined it for me, but my cousin named his daughter [name]Brenna[/name] this summer, and she is just a doll, so I might be coming around to it. I don’t think I’ll ever [name]LOVE[/name] it, though.
[name]Cassidy[/name] - Sounds too dated/western-cowboy to me. I much prefer [name]Cassia[/name] as a way to get to [name]Cas[/name]- related nns.
[name]Nola[/name] - honestly, I wish I could like it. It has a fresh sound, but I can’t not think of [name]New[/name] Orleans, and I like [name]Lola[/name] so much more. It’s like, my mom’s favorite name ever now, haha, so I think I’d make her the happiest grandma ever if I loved it, but I just can’t see the appeal.
[name]Calla[/name] - pretty, and I can see the appeal, but I like [name]Calliope[/name] and [name]Calista[/name] more.
[name]Ireland[/name] - honestly, I love it. I know it can cause some raised eyebrows in [name]Ireland[/name], which is why I’d never use it, but I do really like it. If I felt the need to use it, I’d use it as a MN since it seems to cause some raised tempers, and I wouldn’t want my daughter to have to deal with that on a day-to-day basis.
[name]India[/name] - I love it. I didn’t used to, and I know it can be politically offensive to some, but I still really like it and like hearing it. It’s a beautiful name.
Good luck!
