The following names have been longtime favorites in case I ever have another girl. I’ve never had the opportunity to share name ideas, opinions and impressions with anyone aside from my husband, so it would be great to get some feedback on each of these names. I have two daughters named Hesper and [name_f]Ivalo[/name_f] (for the record), just so you can get a sense of my style.
[name_f]Twila[/name_f]
[name_f]Araluen[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Sybil[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Eira[/name_f]
[name_f]Cynthia[/name_f]
[name_f]Ana[/name_f]ïs
[name_f]Djuna[/name_f]
[name_f]Cleo[/name_f]/[name_f]Clio[/name_f] (I never know which one to choose)
I think they’re all rather nice, though I myself do find [name_f]Sybil[/name_f], [name_f]Cynthia[/name_f] and [name_f]Anais[/name_f] rather dated. My favourites are [name_f]Clio[/name_f] (I prefer this spelling myself), [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] & [name_f]Araluen[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Clio[/name_f] with this spelling as it has the connection to the muse of history in Greek mythology. Personally that has a lot of meaning, and I think it’s a great association. [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] is one of my top 10 favourites, strong, simple, passionate, and I like [name_f]Eira[/name_f] as Ay-ruh. I want to love [name_f]Araluen[/name_f], but it’s a bit of a mouthful for me.
[name_f]Twila[/name_f]
[name_f]Araluen[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Sybil[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Eira[/name_f]
[name_f]Cynthia[/name_f]
[name_f]Ana[/name_f]ïs
[name_f]Djuna[/name_f]
[name_f]Cleo[/name_f]/[name_f]Clio[/name_f] (I never know which one to choose)
I like [name_f]Twila[/name_f], [name_f]Sibyl[/name_f] - this spelling, [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Djuna[/name_f], [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] - this spelling and thats it.
[name_f]Twila[/name_f], [name_f]Araluen[/name_f] and [name_f]Djuna[/name_f]: I personally don’t like those.
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] is pretty but starting to become boring.
[name_f]Eira[/name_f] and [name_f]Ana[/name_f]ïs are nice but not as stunning as the names of your other daughters.
I prefer [name_f]Clio[/name_f], like the muse. Whereas [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] is more of a nickname for [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f] imo…
[name_f]Cynthia[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] and [name_f]Clio[/name_f] are really beautiful and lovely.
[name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Cynthia[/name_f] and [name_f]Sybil[/name_f]… those 3 names are stunning and work really well with the names of your other daughters imo.
Wow, your daughters have stunning names! Both [name_f]Ivalo[/name_f] and Hesper are on my long list - gorgeous and evocative names, love these two together!
I think the best matches for your kids’ names are: [name_f]Twila[/name_f], [name_f]Araluen[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f] and [name_f]Ana[/name_f]ïs. I love [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] too but for me it’s a bit matchy with [name_f]Ivalo[/name_f] (do you say “oh” or “ooh” at the end?)
I love Hesper and [name_f]Ivalo[/name_f], what fantastic names you’ve chosen! And your list is really interesting.
I think [name_f]Twila[/name_f] and [name_f]Djuna[/name_f] are the ones that best match your daughters’ names in terms of rarity and that hard to define magical quality. They are both wonderfully witchy in the best way possible. They make me think of bonfires and starlight.
I absolutely love [name_f]Anais[/name_f], would definitely consider it for my own daughter. My only recurring problem with it is how English speakers pronounce it. It gets mangled a lot.
[name_f]Eira[/name_f] is pretty but I feel like it lacks substance compared to Hesper and [name_f]Ivalo[/name_f].
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Flora[/name_f] are pretty but a bit more mainstream, they don’t make me think wow.
I love the way [name_f]Araluen[/name_f] looks written down but I’m not sure I like the way it sounds, or even how to pronounce it. Which syllable is stressed? It’s a bit [name_m]Lord[/name_m] of the Ringsy (not necessarily a bad thing!)
I like the classical associations of [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] and I like the way it sounds. It’s growing on me actually.
I’m not sure I’m ready for [name_f]Cynthia[/name_f] yet, it feels very mid-century, but good on you for being more forward thinking than me!
[name_f]Clio[/name_f] and [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] are both great, I slightly prefer [name_f]Clio[/name_f] but I reckon everyone would always spell it [name_f]Cleo[/name_f].
[name_f]Araluen[/name_f] seems like it will be a spelling & pronunciation problem. The other options are too “normal” to work for me with your girls names.
Please take [name_f]Anais[/name_f] off your list! I hope this isn’t mean, but it’s wayyyyyyyyy to close to an embarrassing body part. That’s a lifetime of teasing waiting to happen.
Thanks! Good to know my husband and I are not the only crazy persons out in the world who love Hesper and [name_f]Ivalo[/name_f]! BTW, we pronounce it Ee-Va-Looh.
I think [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] and [name_f]Clio[/name_f] might be better fit for a middle name.
Thanks for the heads up on [name_f]Ana[/name_f]ïs but I’m under the impression that we’re pronouncing it in two very different ways. I say [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-nah-EES. Also, you can have the most straightforward traditional name that you will be bullied and teased, sometimes not even because of your name but because of something else entirely.
Your daughters have such beautiful, stunning names!
I like [name_f]Twila[/name_f], [name_f]Eira[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Clio[/name_f], and [name_f]Araluen[/name_f] best.
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] are also nice names, I just don’t think they compare to the others.
I went to school with an [name_f]Anais[/name_f] (said how you pronounce it) and I always thought it was such a pretty name. I don’t remember her ever getting teased for it either!
I guess you can’t go wrong here, they’re all incredible names. I’d say [name_f]Twila[/name_f], [name_f]Eira[/name_f], and [name_f]Flora[/name_f] are my top favorites!
I love in general (and with Hesper and [name_f]Ivalo[/name_f]!) [name_f]Araluen[/name_f], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f], and [name_f]Eira[/name_f]! I particularly love the Old Norse meaning behind [name_f]Eira[/name_f]–“mercy”! Which I think is lovely, and a lovely quality to have. ("[name_f]Snow[/name_f]" is equally lovely, though, haha!)
Your style is magical! So pretty and whimsical. My favourites are [name_f]Twila[/name_f], [name_f]Sybil[/name_f], [name_f]Clio[/name_f] and [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]. Never heard of [name_f]Araluen[/name_f] before, but I’m loving the sound. They reminded me of some of my faves:
[name_f]Tamsin[/name_f]
[name_f]Tansy[/name_f]
[name_f]Hyacinth[/name_f]
[name_f]Camellia[/name_f]
[name_f]Gaia[/name_f]
[name_f]Arianwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Oriana[/name_f]
[name_f]Arianne[/name_f]
