Opinions on name list and suggestions!

After much lurking, my husband and I just found out that we are having a baby girl. I would love everyone’s opinion on our top 5 names. Suggestions would be helpful as well. I tend to like classic but not too common names. There needs to be a possibility of a nn, so nothing short like [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] (though it is a lovely name).

The middle name will most likely be [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. It is the middle name of my grandma, my mom, and myself.

[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] (My favorite but husband is hesitant)
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] (Debating if this is too popular now)
[name_f]Veronica[/name_f]
[name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeline[/name_f] (pronounced [name_f]LINE[/name_f])

Thank you!

I like [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] best as a first name, and [name_f]Diana[/name_f] best for how it flows with the middle… [name_f]Diana[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. But that’s just me. I’ve always hated the name [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] (it’s very similar to my first name, so it has always sounded like a hideous mutation of it to me, haha. Most people won’t have that problem with it, obviously) — but from an objective standpoint, I think [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] sounds pretty cute too.

[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is perfect! [name_f]Veronica[/name_f] would probably be my second choice. I like [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], but I agree, it is getting pretty popular. [name_f]Diana[/name_f] feels dated to me. [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]- pronounced “line” is my favorite version of the name, but when you consider all the different versions and spellings of [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]/[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] it starts to feel a lot more common.

I think [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] sounds the best! I also like [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], and [name_f]Diana[/name_f] is pretty, too. But [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] (pronounced -line) is my favorite:)

I like them all except [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], which just doesn’t appeal to me, and is also extremely popular.

I love that pronunciation of [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], (and think that’s how that spelling should be pronounced!) I also love the classic nature of [name_f]Diana[/name_f], and that it is little used even though very recognisable. I don’t mind [name_f]Veronica[/name_f], and I really like Matlida, and love the nns you get from [name_f]Matilda[/name_f].

[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] are my 2 favourites.

Great list! I’m almost certain that [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] will be in the top 10 soon (it already is in many states) so if popularity is a concern, you may want to stay away from that. Other options you may like, based on your list:
[name_f]Claudia[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Camille[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Celia[/name_f]
[name_f]Margo[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Diana[/name_f]! [name_f]Diana[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is so, so pretty and charming.

All of the Mad- names, though lovely, feel quite popular to me right now. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Veronica[/name_f] have a nice, classic but interesting feel - although they are not exactly my style.

Would you consider [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] as an alternative to [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]? Other ideas ~
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Catalina[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosaline[/name_f]
[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Liana[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonora[/name_f]
[name_f]Bethany[/name_f]
[name_f]Viveca[/name_f]
[name_f]Vienna[/name_f]
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f]

Best of luck

[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]! I think [name_f]Tilly[/name_f]/[name_f]Tildy[/name_f] is a great nn. I like alliteration in a name, so I think [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] sounds great, but you could also do a double mn. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] would work.

I think [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] flows the best but [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] also goes great. I don’t think the names are too popular. I know 1 [name_f]Evie[/name_f] (not [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]), 2 Madelines and 5 Maddys all varying in age.

I’m going to vote [name_f]Veronica[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f]

[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is my favorite.

[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is adorable. Some other classic names [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] (if you want to go with an E name like [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]) and [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. I think both sound good with [name_f]Mary[/name_f].
