I have been wanting to write an interpretation of a story using different characters, and I was just wondering your opinion on these names. The feel of the names is supposed to be ‘evil’ but not ‘develish’. I am not really worried about the meaning, more what you would picture the person to look/act like.
Please tell me your thoughts, and if you think a name needs replacing, suggest a name with the same feel, but a differnt letter.
PS. Macsimo is the last name.
I think almost all of them work really well for what your going for. The only one that I would change is [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f]. It might be because I think of her as the only [name_m]Black[/name_m] sister that was good. Maybe change [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] to:
[name_f]Bella[/name_f]
[name_u]Avery[/name_u]
[name_f]Cissy[/name_f]
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]
[name_f]Kendra[/name_f]
[name_f]Crimson[/name_f]: not evil, but badass. [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] this name!!!
[name_m]Blade[/name_m] Macsimo: I would spell [name_m]Maximo[/name_m].
[name_f]Esmerelda[/name_f]: evil…
[name_f]Andromeda[/name_f]: [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] this name. Again, more badass than evil or devilish
[name_m]Magnus[/name_m]: “king of the world” feel
[name_m]Vladimir[/name_m]: Dracula
[name_f]Sephira[/name_f]: and [name_f]Sephora[/name_f] are scary
[name_f]Drusilla[/name_f]
Gomez: [name_m]Adams[/name_m]?
Belladonna
[name_m]Romero[/name_m]: ?
[name_m]Hans[/name_m]: normal
[name_f]Juna[/name_f]: too happy
[name_m]Lazarus[/name_m]
The only ones I think do not fit your description of “evil, but not devilish” are: [name_m]Hans[/name_m], [name_f]Juna[/name_f] and [name_m]Romero[/name_m].
Alright dearest, lets see what I can do, I’ll give my opinion here and then some suggestions, like lu_brasil.
[name_f]Crimson[/name_f]: Its a little heavy as i name, I can’t really picture someone having it but it is very sly sounding.
[name_m]Blade[/name_m] Macsimo: This feels forced, I would avoid it…
[name_f]Esmerelda[/name_f]: This makes me think of more a seductress
[name_f]Andromeda[/name_f]: Heavy, but it does call for respect, like an evil queen or something
[name_m]Magnus[/name_m]: Eh, not too hot on this one, sounds like “[name_m]Magnus[/name_m] Bane” from a very popular series…
[name_m]Vladimir[/name_m]: A little out of place but still very evil sounding
[name_f]Sephira[/name_f]: Good
[name_f]Drusilla[/name_f]: Sounds like an Evil step sister
Gomez: sounds like a normal guy
Belladonna: Evil Ballerina
[name_m]Romero[/name_m]: looks like romeo, sounds normal tho
[name_m]Hans[/name_m]: Let it go…
[name_f]Juna[/name_f]: sounds like june, Not evil
[name_m]Lazarus[/name_m]: this is a biblical name, not sure how that would be “evil”
Mkay now that’s out of the way here are some names that i [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] and sound pretty devious.

[name_f]Crimson[/name_f]: Very cool, and I could see it fitting an evil person.
[name_m]Blade[/name_m] Macsimo: [name_m]Blade[/name_m] sounds like the high school nickname for a wannabe bad boy to me. I agree with lu_brasil, [name_m]Maximo[/name_m] looks better.
[name_f]Esmerelda[/name_f]: Doesn’t strike me as evil. It reminds me of [name_f]Esmeralda[/name_f] from The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
[name_f]Andromeda[/name_f]: Not evil to me either. It sounds more like the name of a plucky tomboy character. (but maybe that’s because I have a tomboy character named [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f].)
[name_m]Magnus[/name_m]: Eh. I could see this one working.
[name_m]Vladimir[/name_m]: Makes me think of vampires. It feels a little forced and heavy handed because of that.
[name_f]Sephira[/name_f]: This one’s probably the best from your list. It gives me an evil feeling without being obvious or stereotyped.
[name_f]Drusilla[/name_f]: Feels obviously evil, and that kind of turns me off to it.
Ravera: I feel like the pronunciation of this one would throw people off, but it’s not terrible.
[name_f]Orlaith[/name_f]: If it was pronounced Or-[name_m]Lay[/name_m]-th I could maybe agree with it, but it’s pronounced [name_f]Orla[/name_f] and that sounds too soft to me.
I would say the problem is that your names sound like two different families. One set is more romance language inspired and the other is more Germanic. [name_f]Esmerelda[/name_f], [name_f]Sephira[/name_f], [name_f]Drusilla[/name_f], Gomez, Belladonna, and [name_m]Romero[/name_m] sound like they could be siblings and [name_m]Magnus[/name_m], [name_m]Vladimir[/name_m], [name_m]Hans[/name_m], and [name_m]Lazarus[/name_m] sound like they could be siblings, but the two sets don’t fit together. [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f], [name_f]Juna[/name_f], Ravera, and [name_f]Orlaith[/name_f] seem out of place and don’t really go with the other names. They could maybe work if you rearranged the list and made it more eclectic. For instance [name_f]Emeralda[/name_f], [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] and Belladonna work together, but if you look at the list as a whole [name_f]Andromeda[/name_f] sticks out.
