Opinions on Oceane and Saraya?

[name]Oceane[/name]: What are your opinions on the pronounciation and spelling of the this girl’s name? [name]Do[/name] you say it o-[name]SHAY[/name]-ahn or o-say-AN or?? Is it too difficult to use in a very English-speaking community (as in most people don’t know French)?

Saraya: Can anyone tell me the origin of this name? Is there a problem with the combination of first/last names Saraya Revere?

I would pronouce [name]Oceane[/name] like the word [name]Ocean[/name].

As for Saraya, i am not sure. Sounds like combo of [name]Sara[/name] ([name]Princess[/name]) and [name]Raya[/name] ([name]Friend[/name]).

It’s another spelling of

SERAIAH
Gender: Masculine
Usage: Biblical, Biblical Hebrew
Other Scripts: ??? (Ancient Hebrew)
Means “YAHWEH is ruler” in Hebrew.

or

[name]SARIAH[/name]
Gender: Feminine
Usage: Mormon
Possibly from an alternate reading of Hebrew ??? (see SERAIAH). In the Book of Mormon this is the name of Lehi’s wife.

I love [name]Oceane[/name] (with the accent on the E, and pronounced oh-say-AHN) but I think in an English speaking place, it would get pronounced like ‘ocean’ or ‘o-she-ann’. It’s a gorgeous name, though, and I think fairly popular in [name]France[/name].

I’ve never heard of Saraya, but [name]Soraya[/name] and [name]Suraya[/name] are both Arabic names, pronounced more or less like sa-[name]RYE[/name]-ah. Behind the Name is a reliable website that could tell you a little more. [name]Soraya[/name] Revere sounds very nice.

Saraya also looks close to [name]Suraya[/name]/[name]Soraya[/name], a Persian name listed here as meaning “princess”.

I’ve heard that [name]Oceane[/name] is pronounced oh-[name]SHEEN[/name] in [name]France[/name]?
