We are pregnant with our 4th girl and having a tough time with her name. Naming our first three was very hard because of difference in style and because we have A LOT of women and girls in our family (names already taken)
We differ in style a lot, we are both southern so we do both like southern style but he leans more towards BNOG names or just not as soft sounding names and I like super frilly names, very feminine southern and girly.
Our 3 girls are
[name_f]Priscilla[/name_f]- Obviously my choice.
[name_f]Jolene[/name_f]- We actually picked this together and equally loved it.
[name_f]Loretta[/name_f]- My husband decided on [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] to honor my late sister, I happily agreed.
My dilemma now: I have a list of 5 names I [name_f]ADORE[/name_f] and think fit well with my other children’s names, he said he would be fine with any of them (he’s just being nice) but he has two names he likes and they are so different, I just don’t think they would match with the other girls style wise.
His names: [name_u]Colby[/name_u] (Boy to me), [name_u]Presley[/name_u] (someone please tell him we cant have a [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] and a [name_u]Presley[/name_u]!!!, he thinks its COOL!)
He really wants her middle name to be [name_u]Carter[/name_u], to honor his dad, and though its a boy name to me I will honor his dad and use it as her middle name but to me a boy first name is for a boy…
Well you could use one of the names on your list, they all sound perfectly fine w/ [name_u]Carter[/name_u]. Otherwise I tried to marry your very different styles and came up with the following suggestions:
[name_f]Celestine[/name_f]
[name_f]Braelynn[/name_f]
[name_f]Bessie[/name_f]
[name_f]Cherish[/name_f]
[name_f]Judith[/name_f]/[name_f]Judy[/name_f]
[name_f]Maybeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Thandie[/name_f]
[name_u]Everly[/name_u]
[name_f]Kourtney[/name_f]
[name_f]Karissa[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_u]Piper[/name_u]
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]
[name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_u]Keenan[/name_u]
I’m not sure if that helps but maybe it will inspire a new middle ground.

My favorite from that list is [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]; it is familiar without being over-used and fits well with your other daughters’ names.
If you’re like me and you wish you could make up your mind and be done with wondering which name you like best, you can stick a hot iron to your husband’s side and make him choose; at the very least, perhaps he chooses a name that makes you realize you like another one more.
Naming a person can be agonizing! But soon you’ll know her name and it’ll be perfect.
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] - has too many of the same sounds as [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f], but could work.
[name_u]Cheyenne[/name_u] - none of your other daughters have word names. It would stand out too much and she may not like that.
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] - the best fit! A bit more trendy than your other names. Could be perfect if only it had an ‘L’ somewhere like all your other daughter’s names. Would you consider [name_f]Viola[/name_f]?
[name_f]Nicolette[/name_f] - really stomps on the toes of [name_f]Loretta[/name_f]
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] - It strikes me as a lot more trendy than your other names.
hormones don’t make this easy, when I posted this my favorite name was [name_u]Cheyenne[/name_u] but 5 minutes ago it was [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] until 4 minutes ago when I decided [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] didn’t sound good with our last name that starts with an F.
I wish he would just pick from my list but he says “if I’m picking I pick [name_u]Presley[/name_u]” noooooo noooooo noooooo !!! but he says if he HAS to pick from my list it would be [name_f]Nicolette[/name_f], he also thinks I should add [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] to my list.
I love your style! The truth is that they all make sense and go with your other girls. [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] and [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] are on my list, but they were my least favorite for you. From most favorite to least:
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_u]Carter[/name_u] – Winner, winner!! I think this works really well.
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_u]Carter[/name_u] – I really love [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], but slightly agree with previous comments that it sounds similar to [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f]
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_u]Carter[/name_u]
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_u]Carter[/name_u]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] -> [name_u]Love[/name_u] this name, and it’s a great fit with your other daughters.
[name_u]Cheyenne[/name_u] -> For me this has a totally different feel than [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] (a name I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] but my husband nixed), but it does go well with [name_f]Jolene[/name_f] and and [name_f]Loretta[/name_f].
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] -> This is a great match with [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f], and I love the name. It goes ok with the other two.
[name_f]Nicolette[/name_f] -> I really like this. [name_m]How[/name_m] do you feel about [name_f]Colette[/name_f]?
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] --> this is my favorite on your list, but it would mean that [name_f]Jolene[/name_f] would be left as the only sister without an “a” ending sound to her name so I’d probably nix it.
[name_f]Blanche[/name_f] --> My all time favorite souther name.
Your husband’s choices are terrible matches with your daughters names. You’d have one daughter being the tomboy in the bunch and I don’t think she’ll be thrilled with that when she’s little. Use them as middles if you must!

I love the idea of [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_u]Carter[/name_u] with your sibset. In my mind, I see no dilemma here. Your husband has agreed to all of your favorites, and in exchange you have conceded to using the middle name he wants, and that middle name sounds fine with each of your options - no problem!
But I think [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] goes the best with your girls. Stylistically, [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] strikes me as colonial, [name_u]Cheyenne[/name_u] as dated, [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] as preppy, [name_f]Nicolette[/name_f] as [name_m]French[/name_m], and [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] as southern. Best of luck!
If he wants you to add [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] to your list does that mean it’s husband approved? Because I think [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_u]Carter[/name_u] is a winner!
[name_f]Do[/name_f] YOU like [name_f]Gemma[/name_f]? Because [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_u]Carter[/name_u] sounds like a winner to me. It goes great with your other names.
Thank you! [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] is jumping into my favorite spot, unfortunately I think that’s his least favorite of the bunch. He will be okay with whatever I choose though, he really doesn’t like the name [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] but she is 100% a daddy’s girl and the funniest girl and he just calls her [name_f]Cilly[/name_f] (silly). I always call the girls by their names and he has a nickname for all of them that he uses.
It is husband approved but to be honest it’s not a name a like very much, I think it’s pretty but I know he likes the name because he watches too much “sons of anarchy” now all I can think of is the woman from that show, and I think that’s the reason he likes it.
I think [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] is pretty but I think he has just been watching too much Sons of anarchy, there is a woman on the show named [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] and that kindof turned me off from the name. It used to be frilly and pretty to me and now it’s a woman in a biker gang
[name_f]Priscilla[/name_f], [name_f]Jolene[/name_f], [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] sounds good. I wouldn’t go with another name ending in a because then [name_f]Jolene[/name_f] will be the odd one out x
