Opinions on our top 3 girls names?

Thanks for all your help with first names to go with [name]Lila[/name] (lie-lah) for mn! [name]Lila[/name] is my late grandmother’s name and I really want to honor her! Here’s our top three names for a sister of [name]Sebastian[/name], [name]Oliver[/name], and [name]Elliott[/name]:

#1. [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Lila[/name] (nn [name]Maisy[/name] or [name]Daisy[/name])
#2. [name]Vivian[/name] [name]Lila[/name] (nn [name]Vita[/name] or [name]Vivi[/name])
#3. [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Lila[/name] (nn [name]Trixie[/name])

ETA: Little girl would most likely be very blond, blue eyes and petite, if that helps with visualizing her and the fitting of the name. Our last name is hyphenated (my LN, DH’s LN).

I think my favorite is [name]Beatrix[/name]. It has the same “classic but unexpected” feel that her brother’s names have

I really like [name]Vivian[/name] but I’m biased having a [name]Vivienne[/name] of my own. I love you boys names as well. [name]Beatrix[/name] would be my second choice, [name]Trixie[/name] is just too cute. I feel like [name]Margaret[/name] is a little bland next to [name]Sebastian[/name] but [name]Sebastian[/name] and [name]Vivian[/name] both end in the same sound, not sure if that is a problem for you.

I think [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Lila[/name] sounds the best. [name]Trixie[/name] is a super fun nn, though I’m not sure how it would work if she was very quiet, calm, soft-spoken, etc.
For a calmer child I would go with [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Lila[/name], [name]Maisy[/name] is lovely!

I love [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Lila[/name], and love the nicknames [name]Maisy[/name] and [name]Daisy[/name]. That’s my favorite choice for you. But the other two are great as well – you can’t go wrong!

I really like [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Lila[/name], but I also really like the nicknames you have picked out for [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Lila[/name].

They are all lovely options. [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Lila[/name] is my favourite.

I like [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Lila[/name] the best! [name]Beatrice[/name]/[name]Beatrix[/name] is top of my list at the moment for DD 2 due in 6 w

My favorite is [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Lilah[/name] followed by [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Lilah[/name] and [name]Vivian[/name] [name]Lilah[/name], but all of them are very nice.

Thanks all! Here are our additional thoughts on those names…

[name]Margaret[/name]- We are both anthropology majors and really like [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Mead[/name]… we also love the nns [name]Daisy[/name] and [name]Maisy[/name] (we had [name]Daisy[/name] on our list, but took it off, but would be happy to use it as a nn). I can totally see calling my little girl either of those nns, but not [name]Margaret[/name] as much. However, my name is [name]Elizabeth[/name], and it is my “professional” name. But I go by [name]Lizzy[/name], which fits my spunky, unique, quirky personality. [name]Margaret[/name] would have the same kind of thing as me

[name]Vivian[/name]- this is the first name that we were both drawn to. I’m not sure if it would be difficult with brother [name]Sebastian[/name], ending in the same sound. I always get [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]Elliott[/name]'s names mixed up, and didn’t think that would happen! So I may be a little more cautious with this one!

[name]Beatrix[/name]- I also [name]LOVE[/name] this one. It has the same kind of uncommon/classic feel, and I love [name]Trixie[/name] for a nn! DH knows someone named [name]Beatrice[/name] (goes by [name]Bea[/name]), and isn’t sure if he wants to use it because of her… but she isn’t like an ex-girlfriend or anything… just a friend of a friend! So I am trying to warm him up to it. It doesn’t have the same consistency and international variations that the others have though.

I love all of these three names with [name]Lila[/name] but there are issues with two of them. [name]Vivian[/name] and [name]Sebastian[/name] share a similar ending as do [name]Margaret[/name] and [name]Elliott[/name]. That leaves [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Lila[/name] as the winner for me! She’s not matchy with any of the boys’ names.

Those are good points! [name]Do[/name] you think it will matter much if I’m calling [name]Margaret[/name], [name]Maisy[/name] or [name]Daisy[/name]? However, caling [name]Vivian[/name], [name]Vivi[/name], would also not go well with [name]Sebastian[/name]'s nn Sebby.

[name]Vivian[/name] may have to be out.

[name]Margaret[/name] [name]Lila[/name] is my favorite from your top 3, I think it’s classic and beautiful and fits well with [name]Sebastian[/name], [name]Oliver[/name], and [name]Elliot[/name]!

I do love [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Lila[/name] nn [name]Daisy[/name]. Does [name]Elliott[/name] have a nn or do you call him by his full name? Sometimes I nitpick too much regarding similarities between sibling names but it doesn’t bother other people. I can’t help but see siblings as a whole cohesive group as that’s the way my brain is wired. [name]Do[/name] the similar endings bother you? Which first name is your fave?

As much as I adore [name]Margaret[/name] (both the name itself and all those nn possibilities), [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Lila[/name] feels perfect.

We need more Beatrixes in this world; the X really seems to give the name a little more spunk than [name]Beatrice[/name].

[name]Bea[/name] is a cute nn too in addition to [name]Trixie[/name].

Hmm…
My favourite out of the three choices is [name]Vivian[/name] [name]Lila[/name]. [name]Vivian[/name] is a gorgeous, and elegant choice. I prefer the spelling [name]Vivienne[/name] though I think the French spelling is far classier, and prettier. Still [name]Vivian[/name] is an attractive choice, she looks wholesome and has a very sweet rural feel. [name]Vivian[/name] sounds very spunky with [name]Lila[/name] as well. [name]Vivian[/name] [name]Lila[/name] is stunning combination and I ultimately adore it.

Elliott doesn’t really have a nn, we call him Elliott. Sebastian often goes by Sebby, and Oliver goes by Ollie.

Right now I love both Beatrix and Margaret. Beatrix for the classic, normal, but spunkiness (esp with Trixie as a nn), plus it I think it fits the best alongside Sebastian, Oliver, and Elliott. And Margaret for it’s meaning, very classicness, consistency in usage, and international recognition. DH and I are anthropology majors and love Margaret Mead, so that helps too!

More thoughts…

DH’s only hesitation with [name]Beatrix[/name] is that he knows a [name]Bea[/name] ([name]Beatrice[/name], friend of a friend), and doesn’t like her all that much. But he admits that [name]Beatrix[/name], especially if we call her [name]Trixie[/name], which he adores, is growing on him. We both agree that [name]Beatrix[/name] looks best next to [name]Sebastian[/name], [name]Oliver[/name], and [name]Elliott[/name], which all have a level of classic-spunk to them. [name]Margaret[/name] sounds much blander with her brother’s names. But we [name]LOVE[/name] the nns [name]Maisy[/name] or [name]Daisy[/name], but I wouldn’t call her [name]Margaret[/name], ever.

Today’s update:

[name]Vivian[/name] is off the table. DH is really starting to adore [name]Beatrix[/name] (aka [name]Trixie[/name]). We both feel that it’s probably the best option paired with [name]Lila[/name], and with our “classic but uncommon/unexpected” tastes.

Thanks for all your input! Choosing a name to go with [name]Lila[/name] is so hard! There are many girl’s names we really like, but most don’t work with [name]Lila[/name].

[name]Vivian[/name] [name]Lila[/name] would be my choice.
