Hello all, I am expecting my first child, a boy due this [name_u]June[/name_u]. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I have narrowed down our name list and our top choice right now is [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u]. I’m looking for some unbiased opinions because we aren’t sharing the name with family or friends until he’s born. We’re going to have a couple backup options in place too in case we meet him and he doesn’t look like a [name_u]Jasper[/name_u].
-What are your thoughts on [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] and [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u] overall as individual names? We have personal attachments and meanings behind both which is why they were chosen.
-Do you think the names pair well together?
-Is [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u] too “out there?” [name_f]My[/name_f] husband was a little concerned that our son won’t have any “normal” name to fall back on if he grows not to like either name.
First off, [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] is fabulous! Such a bright and fun name, and one that I can picture on all ages!
I also like [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u], but I think the -per in [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] and [name_m]Per[/name_m]- in [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u] is a bit too repetitive.
Other middle name options for [name_u]Jasper[/name_u]:
[name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_m]Heath[/name_m]
[name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]
[name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_u]Lark[/name_u]
[name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]
[name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_m]Philip[/name_m]
[name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_m]Sylvan[/name_m]
Oh my goodness, [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u] is stunning
I love them together — such a cool vibe! I think visually the -per [name_m]Per[/name_m]- is a bit repetitive, but soundwise it works.
I don’t think [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u] is too “out there”, but it’s got some lovely nicknames that might feel more comfortable, like [name_u]Pip[/name_u] or [name_u]Perry[/name_u].
[name_u]Peregrine[/name_u] is a tad on the “out there” feel for me personally. But it is only a middle…. So I wouldn’t necessarily count that as a dealbreaker or anything. I do think the double “per” in the combo is hard to unnotice once pointed out…. But I didn’t notice it until the above comments pointed it out. I do like the suggestion of [name_u]Perry[/name_u] as a good suggestion for him to fall back on though if for some reason [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] doesn’t work out.
While [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] isn’t my style, I do think [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u] is very handsome! Definitely wearable and will age well! I love an unexpected middle! We almost have my son the middle name [name_m]Lysander[/name_m] but ultimately opted for a family name. We’re saving [name_m]Lysander[/name_m] for the future, though.
-What are your thoughts on Jasper and Peregrine overall as individual names?
They are both gorgeous! [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] is sleek, stylish and mystical. [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u] is elegant, bold and beautiful with a lovely meaning.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think the names pair well together?
Yes! [name_u]Love[/name_u] them together - they’re wonderful, interesting and fresh
Not for me - it is bold and unexpected, but it’s not unheard of. Plus, [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] is fairly familiar and where I am, it’s in the top 100 :shrugging: so I see it as a normal name. He’s also got the options of various nicknames with these names (Jay, [name_u]Jaz[/name_u], [name_u]Perry[/name_u], Pip)
I really like [name_u]Jasper[/name_u]! [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u] is fine but nms
I actually think [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u] is a great combo!
I don’t think [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u] is too ‘out there’ but I think it might be a bit formal, but like the others are saying he can go by [name_u]Perry[/name_u] or some other nickname
[name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u] is gorgeous! I think they flow brilliantly together. Normally I wouldn’t go for repeated sounds like the -per, but in this case I didn’t even notice it because they are pronounced differently.
Individually, I think they’re great names. [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] is in the top 100 where I live so not unfamiliar at all, and while [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u] is more unusual I don’t think it’s too “out there”. Especially for a middle name. It’s also a familiar word to a lot of people and has an intuitive spelling.
I wouldn’t hesitate in using this name at all. It’s beautiful.
i love it! it’s really cool and flows very nicely. I dont think that [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u] is too out there, and there are lots of nickname options for [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u].
i love jasper a lot, such a cool name, very well known but not too common or out there. peregrine is not really my style, but i think it goes wonderful here, it’s a bit more out there but i think it works perfect as a middle
[name_u]Jasper[/name_u] is great, but I think the combo of [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u] will set some tongues wagging. I would pick a different middle name.
[name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_m]Graham[/name_m]
[name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_u]Chase[/name_u]
[name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_u]Miles[/name_u]
[name_u]Jasper[/name_u] is a charming, warm, approachable name, and not too out there at all! I know several people named [name_u]Jasper[/name_u], one in his 30s and one in his teens, and both wear it well! I have not met anyone with the name [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u], but would be excited to, and I think it’s a great middle.
As for the repeating -per [name_m]Per[/name_m] sounds, I don’t think this is a big problem, since people so rarely say first and middle names together out loud! And I think it looks good written out!
I love [name_u]Jasper[/name_u]. Don’t love [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u], personally. And the combination to me sounds like a description, since they are both word names. As in, a peregrine made of jasper.
I love both names! [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] is on my own list and [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u] would be too if I didn’t already have a child with a [name_m]Lord[/name_m] of the Rings name (Arwen). I’m not big on them together, at least not in that order. [name_u]Peregrine[/name_u] [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] would flow better I think.
