Opinions on Rosalina?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone, I’m new to this forum. My husband and I are hoping to start a family soon and since I have been a name lover for a long time, so I wanted to get some opinions on some of my favorite girl’s names. (I have a much harder time with boy’s names, don’t really have too many contenders yet)

Anyway, what do you guys think of [name_f]Rosalina[/name_f]? My husband and I both like long, feminine names that end in ‘a’ We have several contenders but this one is one of my favorites because it is not nearly as common as say, [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], which is also on our list. I like that it’s a little exotic but do you think it’s too unique or ‘made-up’ sounding at all? I also really like the nn [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] for when she’s young.

Opinions, thoughts, comments? What kind of girl do you picture a ‘[name_f]Rosalina[/name_f]’ to be?

Thanks in advance!

It’s a very feminine name. Like many long names, your daughter will probably end up with a nickname, but since you like [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], that’s not a problem.

[name_f]Rosalina[/name_f] is NMS as it sounds sort of made-up. I prefer [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f].

It’s fine. It’s a solid name and there’s nothing wrong with it, but it really doesn’t stand out to me.
If you like very long, feminine names, you might like:
[name_f]Valentina[/name_f]
[name_f]Tatiana[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalba[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosaline[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosaria[/name_f]
Roshanara
[name_f]Viviana[/name_f]
[name_f]Valeria[/name_f]
[name_f]Alessandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Francesca[/name_f]
[name_f]Angelica[/name_f]/[name_f]Angelina[/name_f]
[name_f]Marietta[/name_f]
[name_f]Mirabel/name_f
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Violetta[/name_f]
[name_f]Rafaela[/name_f]/Raphaella
[name_f]Luciana[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleonora[/name_f]

I love it!

I like it, it’s very pretty. You might also like Rosalita or [name_f]Rosita[/name_f]. Both of those seem a little…stronger and spunkier to me.

Thanks for the responses everyone!

Seems like not too many people love this name?! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you guys think it’s not classic enough?

Any more opinions or suggestions? Thanks!

I like [name_f]Rosalina[/name_f], but I think that I personally prefer [name_f]Rosalinda[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Rosalina[/name_f]. I prefer [name_f]Rosalyn[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] more.

I like the concept of [name_f]Rosalina[/name_f] but to be honest, the -lina ending seems to diminish the charm!
i’m all for long glorious girl names, so that’s not the issue. But since -lina is such an ubiquitous ending, it drags the name down into a common territory, even though [name_f]Rosalina[/name_f] itself may not be heard everywhere.

My favorite lush [name_f]Rosa[/name_f]- variants are:

[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosamond[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosalinde[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalia[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalba[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosaria[/name_f]

And even [name_f]Rosana[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosanna[/name_f]!

I don’t believe that [name_f]Rosalina[/name_f] sounds made up at all  and I’m pretty sure I’ve met a [name_f]Rosalina[/name_f] actually. I picture someone who is maybe a dancer and appreciates being outdoors. It’s a very pretty, feminine name!

I actually quite like it.

[name_f]Rosalina[/name_f] is a very beautiful name. I prefer it over [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], as the latter is overused.

You could also call her [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] when she’s younger, or maybe even [name_f]Lina[/name_f], which would be very cute.

I picture a [name_f]Rosalina[/name_f] as a beautiful woman with long, flowing hair… but that’s just me. I’ve never actually met anyone with that name.

Have you considered the name [name_f]Iliana[/name_f]? Pronounced “ill-ee-ah-nah.” I’ve been considering that for my future baby girl.
