Opinions on sibling names

Our daughter is [name_f]Leah[/name_f] (lee-ah) and we are expecting another little girl. We both love the name [name_f]Nola[/name_f], although I made the mistake of sharing it with someone and they were quick to point out that [name_f]Leah[/name_f] and [name_f]Nola[/name_f] sound quite similar to them. Of course, now I can’t get it out of my head! Thoughts? [name_f]Do[/name_f] these really sound too similar? And how important is it for sibling names to flow?

They have some similarities, but they do not rhyme or match too closely. The only trick might be if you get tongue tied when you say them together. If that were the case, maybe [name_f]Nora[/name_f].

[name_f]Neela[/name_f]/[name_u]Neely[/name_u], [name_f]Lena[/name_f], or [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] would be too matchy with [name_f]Leah[/name_f] for me, because they share sounds in the emphasized syllable.

While they’re pretty similar, I think they’re not too close to one another.
Have you considered [name_f]Nell[/name_f]?

I don’t think they’re too similar. They share the fact that they are both two syllable names with a strong ‘l’ sound, but the emphasis is on different syllables in the names, and they don’t start with the same letter. I think you’re good! If you were super worried you could go with [name_f]Nora[/name_f], like a previous poster suggested, but I personally like the sound of [name_f]Nola[/name_f] far better.

That’s so pretty, I haven’t heard that before. Is it short for anything? Somehow I don’t think my partner would be into it but I do like how it ends versus going with an “ah” or “ee” ending.

Thank you for making me feel better! I also prefer [name_f]Nola[/name_f] to [name_f]Nora[/name_f].

[name_f]Leah[/name_f] and [name_f]Nola[/name_f] sound nothing alike to me! They’re totally fine together.

[name_f]Nell[/name_f] is a great name. It can be short for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Helen[/name_f], or a lot of other names in that family. [name_f]Leah[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] “[name_f]Nell[/name_f]” would be super cute.
