Opinions on Sybil

[name]Hi[/name],
I love the name [name]Sybil[/name], I think it’s beautiful and classy and not too popular. I used to love the nn [name]Billie[/name] but now I prefer Sybbie. I’m also a huge Downton [name]Abbey[/name] fan, but I loved the name before I watched it.
My current combo for it is [name]Sybil[/name] [name]Hannah[/name].
What do you think?
Thanks,
[name]Ellie[/name] xx

[name]Sybil[/name] is a lovely name but I prefer the variants of this name. [name]Sibilla[/name], [name]Sybilla[/name], [name]Sibylla[/name].

Downtown [name]Abbey[/name] really changed my opinion of [name]Sybil[/name] and now I think it’s absolutely lovely. I wouldn’t use it, because I don’t like to repeat initials but I’d highly encourage someone else to have a baby [name]Sybil[/name].

It is a lovely name and I love both nicknames!

I instantly think of the movie [name]Sybil[/name] about the poor abused girl with the multiple personalities. I’m 43 so I think that image is burned into the mind of myself and anyone older than me. So for me, no way.

But I think as long as they never film a re-make you would be fine using it.

I really love [name]Sybil[/name] (it’s consistently been in my top ten/twenty for about nine months) as well as the nickname Sybbie. Before Downton [name]Abbey[/name] I hadn’t really heard of the name, so it made an excellent impression.
[name]Sybil[/name] [name]Hannah[/name] is lovely.

I prefer the spelling [name]Sibyl[/name], but I like [name]Sybil[/name] too. I like how crisp and tailored it is. At the moment I’m really loving girls names that are two syllable and end in -l. Like [name]Sibyl[/name], [name]Hazel[/name], and [name]Opal[/name] - they feel feminine but not frilly.

I’m 33 and I’m haunted by that movie too (they rerun it a lot!). Kind of a shame, because I loved the Downton character :frowning:

[name]Love[/name], love, love, love it!

[name]Sybil[/name] sounds so old to me, while I do like many old-fashioned name I can’t see this one working for a little girl. I adore [name]Billie[/name] though! [name]Sybil[/name] nn [name]Billie[/name] is very sweet.

I love Sybbie and also like [name]Billie[/name]! I find [name]Sybil[/name] a bit too short and harsh sounding, but love [name]Sybilla[/name] and [name]Sybella[/name] - they sound more feminine and modern to me!

I went to school with a [name]Sibyl[/name] and always thought it was an awful, ugly name! It grew on me slightly after watching Downton [name]Abbey[/name], but I still don’t really like it.

I adore [name]Sybil[/name] so much. Seeing Downton [name]Abbey[/name] definitely changed my opinion. She was my favourite character. I just think it’s such a sweet name. I’m not a fan of [name]Sybil[/name] [name]Hannah[/name] but only because of a girl I went to school with named [name]Hannah[/name]. I like [name]Hana[/name] though but it doesn’t look good with [name]Sybil[/name].

Name is OK, but prefer more frillier [name]Sybilla[/name].

This film character and her multiple personalities was a sham. The fraud was discussed in the book “[name]Sybil[/name] Exposed” by [name]Debbie[/name] [name]Nathan[/name] which was published in 2011. I think [name]Sybil[/name] is a wonderful name with a mythological pedigree and vintage charm. I love the name [name]Hannah[/name] but the “l” in [name]Sybil[/name] runs into [name]Hannah[/name].

I love [name]Sybil[/name].
