Opinions on the name Miko Gabriel and Kaori Autumn?

These are the names I have picked out for my kids. Trash them as you please. Everyone else does.

They are beautiful names! Kaori is Japanese yeah? I love them both!

[name]Miko[/name] and Kaori make an amazing, exotic sounding sibset without being too out there. I think they balance each other out really well.

[name]Miko[/name] [name]Gabriel[/name] is for a boy right? As long as it’s a boy name & Kaori [name]Autumn[/name] is your girl name I really see no problem…

I like them! Those names work really well as a sibset. I knew a Japanese girl called Kaori. Is [name]Miko[/name] a Japanese name too and if so do you have a Japanese connection (I’m just curious)? Either way, if you like them then you should definitely stick with them - and you tell those haters where to go!

Yes, [name]Miko[/name] [name]Gabriel[/name] is for a boy

According to [name]Baby[/name] Name website, the name [name]Miko[/name] is Japanese, and I love it!! I have no connection to Japan, but I do love Japanese names.

Yes, the name Kaori is Japanese :stuck_out_tongue:

I knew a Kaori in elementary school and I was always totally jealous of her name. If that’s not a recommendation, I don’t know what is.

[name]Love[/name] both pairings, unreservedly. I can’t believe anyone is trashing them.

Aww!! Thanks. Neither can I. I think they are amazing!!

I like the name Kaori [name]Autumn[/name] better.

Yep! My japanese friend’s name is Kaori! She has 3 kids, [name]Sophia[/name], [name]Emily[/name], and last but not least, [name]Julia[/name].

Isn’t ko the most consistently feminine ending in Japanese?

I don’t think my kids could pull off Japanese names (unless I adopted from Japan, haha), but [name]Miko[/name] [name]Gabriel[/name] and Kaori [name]Autumn[/name] are seriously cool! What’s not to like?!

I think they’re cool, but I wouldn’t use them on kids that weren’t part-Japanese.

Not saying you shouldn’t, or that there’s anything wrong with it. :). I just find it a bit jarring when a person’s name and their ethnic heritage are so out-of-sync. I’m tall, light-haired, blue-eyed and pale. I’m glad I’m not called [name]Esperanza[/name], know what I mean?

[name]How[/name] Kaori pronounced? [name]Ki[/name]-o-ri or Ka-o-ri?

[name]Kay[/name]-OR-ee (long ‘or’, like ‘door’)

It is,well it was. Lately -mi (meaning beauty),as well as -ka and -na,have passed it while -ko (meaning child) is getting a bit more dated though it’s still widely used. I suppose that in theory you could use [name]Miko[/name] on a boy if you used some obscure kanjii for -ko but I would be EXTREMELY surprised to find a boy named [name]Miko[/name].

On the other hand Kaori [name]Autumn[/name] is lovely.
