Opinions on the name Orin

Hello Nameberries!

My DH and I have had so much trouble deciding on a boys name! (only 5 more weeks til he’s here!) We were originally set on [name]Julian[/name] but 2 of our close friends that have had babies in the last 3 months have named them [name]Julia[/name] and [name]Juliette[/name]… :expressionless: so we have decided we need something more unique (as we have found, it’s a very hard thing for us to do for a boy’s name without sounding “out there”)

So, after much deliberation we are pretty sure we have finally settled on [name]Orin[/name]. We feel like it is something that will suit a little guy as well as a grown man. We have a 3 syllable Italian last name ending with an i so we like the two-syllable name. We also like the sound of names such as [name]Ethan[/name] and [name]Aaron[/name] but like I said, we don’t want a common name. We are not sharing the name with friends and family so I’m turning to you for some feedback on what you think! If you don’t like it, we would love to hear other suggestions as well.

I think it’s sweet, and something not heard often. I’ve only heard of one, my mother’s uncle.

I love it! But his nickname will probably turn into [name]Ori[/name] - which he may not like when he’s older? I’m always cautious of possible nicknames that even grandparents can dub!

Haha yes, nicknames are tough! We are a little concerned about what my [name]MIL[/name] will come up with - we are thinking we might try to sway her toward Rinnie rather than [name]Ori[/name] if she insists on a nickname.

I like [name]Orin[/name], too–soft yet handsome. I also like it spelled [name]Orrin[/name] (I just finished [name]Louis[/name] L’Amour’s “Sackett” series, ha ha!) and [name]Oren[/name].

[name]Orin[/name] is a great choice! So underused and soft but handsome. The [name]Oren[/name] spelling is my favorite.
