Husband and I cant find a name we both like for our baby boy due in Dec. The only name we both really like is [name]Rush[/name]. Weve shared this name with a few people and have gotten mixed reactions. What do y’all think? Middle name is going to be [name]Aaron[/name]. My husbands name is Randolph and we want to keep the first initial “R”. We like uncommon names but not so unique that you cant pronounce them.
Sorry but I would advise you to choose [name]Rush[/name] only if you’re both diehard Republicans because the only person I know with this name is [name]Rush[/name] Limbaugh. Some of the statements he’s made over the years on his radio show leave a lot to be desired! [name]Rush[/name] [name]Aaron[/name] blends together to become one name (rushaaron). Have you considered [name]Russell[/name] or [name]Ross[/name]?
Are you located in the US? If so, I’d think very hard about that name, as it’s a political name almost exclusively associated with conservative radio host [name]Rush[/name] Limbaugh. If you’re not concerned about political associations, then go ahead with it. Otherwise you may want to find another name to use if you don’t want judgments made (good or bad) about you and your child.
I didn’t think of [name]Rush[/name] Limbaugh AT ALL when I heard this. I actually really like it. Very unique and adventurous.
Judgments are made about you regardless of what you name your children. If someone thinks badly of you because they think you named your son after [name]Rush[/name] Limbaugh, that’s their problem.
[name]Rush[/name] is a cool name. There is no reason it should not be used. I do agree that [name]Rush[/name] [name]Aaron[/name] runs together. Unless you plan to call your son by first and middle name though, that won’t be an issue.
ETA: If Rush Limbaugh were a liberal, I wonder if he would still be able to “contaminate the name to the point of unusability”? You might not agree with Limbaugh’s politics, but from the way feathers are ruffling you’d think Adolf was the name in question.
I dont know WHY I didnt think of Limbaugh first, but I didnt, but now that I did, I cant get behind it. But sadly, I like it. [name]How[/name] about [name]Nash[/name]?
I like [name]Rush[/name] ok but don’t like the [name]Rush[/name] [name]Aaron[/name] combo. [name]Do[/name] you have any other options?
Makes me think of [name]Rush[/name] Limbaugh also, but only because he’s the only person I’ve heard of with that name. If I could get past that I’d think it was a pretty cool name.
I have to agree. I think [name]Rush[/name] Limbaugh contaminates the name to the point of unusability. It’s really too bad, as it would be cute otherwise.
[name]Rush[/name] is all Limbaugh to me. I don’t personally like it very much, but you could do worse.
[name]Rush[/name] is cool. I like it. The Limbaugh thing doesn’t bother me, actually. [name]Every[/name] kid makes their name their own. It isn’t as if you’re proposing to call the little guy [name]Judas[/name] or [name]Adolph[/name] for goodness sake. I think probably people who hear your son’s name will think “Hey, isn’t that the name of the talk show guy?” and then proceed to tell you how adorable your [name]Rush[/name] is.
Also, if you call the [name]Rush[/name] Limbaugh show and tell him you named your son after him, he might pay for the kid’s college or something
eh makes me think of Limbaugh and he’s very weird to me
Not my cup of tea, sorry. For me, it’s too strongly associated with [name]Rush[/name] Limbaugh. [name]Even[/name] if I try to ignore him (which I do anyway), I don’t find it all that positive. Who likes to be rushed, after all? There’s also a rush of anger or hate or the rush you get from a drug…no, the more I think about it, the more I dislike it. It also runs into [name]Aaron[/name], sounding a lot like RuSharon.
If you like [name]Rush[/name], how about [name]Dash[/name]? [name]Dashiell[/name] [name]Aaron[/name] would be so handsome.
I disagree with this. The reason why the name is “contaminated” by [name]Rush[/name] Limbaugh is because of how hateful, crude, and vulgar he is. There are plenty of Conservative figureheads that are respectful people, and although I do not agree with their politics in the least, their names wouldn’t contaminate a name. It’s also because the name [name]Rush[/name] is so unique, it’s sort of “belongs” to one person…you know? Like [name]Mitt[/name], everyone would think of [name]Mitt[/name] [name]Romney[/name]. And [name]Barack[/name], people couldn’t help but think President [name]Obama[/name]. I’m not starting a political debate, but as a Liberal I would automatically assume the parents admired [name]Rush[/name] Limbaugh and be pretty turned off by it.
With [name]Rush[/name], half the population would give you a high five and the other half would think you were a mega Republican [name]Neo[/name]-[name]Con[/name]. Either way, be prepared for constant questions and raised eyebrows.
I love the name [name]Judas[/name], and I am not religious at all but I still wouldn’t use it because it’s a “trigger” name, it would start arguments, rude comments, and a general hub bub. Same with [name]Rush[/name], I wouldn’t use it even if I were a Conservative. [name]Just[/name] not a good idea.
I immediately think of Limbaugh. If you aren’t a fan, then you may not want to go there
What about [name]Rudolph[/name] nn [name]Rudy[/name] or [name]Rudd[/name]?
[name]Reed[/name]/[name]Reid[/name]
[name]Rufus[/name]
[name]Roch[/name]/[name]Rock[/name]
[name]Roderick[/name]

[name]Rhodes[/name]
[name]Royce[/name]
It’s not about llberal or conservative, it’s about the name beingstrongly attached to a brash individual who loves to make racist, sexist, classist, and homophobic comments. He’s not that way because he’s conservative, he’s that way because he’s an ignorant jerk.
I say [name]Rush[/name] is a perfectly acceptable name that does not immediately conjure the image [name]Rush[/name] Limbaugh. I know a twenty-something named Rushton nn [name]Rush[/name], and his name suits him well.
I know a 3 yr old little boy named [name]Rush[/name] and was raised knowing of [name]Rush[/name] Limbaugh (Thanks dad!) and I never made that association! Call me crazy but I guess I’ve never really though about his name being [name]Rush[/name], just [name]Rush[/name] Limbaugh. I like the name very much! It fits this little boy very well and I’ve never heard of anyone even associating his name with [name]Rush[/name] Limbaugh.
Mt Rushmore came to mind at first, then [name]Rush[/name] Limbaugh. I couldn’t picture a little boy with this name, I only saw the verb.
I immediately thought of [name]Rush[/name] Limbaugh. [name]Even[/name] if you agree with his politics, the way he expresses himself is not very civil or respectful.
People do refer to him as [name]Rush[/name] when they reference him without the last name. [name]Just[/name] be prepared for a divisive reception at first from some people who might think [name]Rush[/name] Limbaugh is your hero.
