Opinions on the name Story?

I’m looking for honest opinions on the name [name_u]Story[/name_u] and suggestions for MN. Thanks in advance! Siblings names are [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u]

I personally am a huge fan of the name [name_u]Story[/name_u]. It is one of my favorites as someone who loves reading and writing. I think it isn’t too girly or too tomboy–right in the middle where no one will make assumptions about her before meeting her. I think it’s really interesting, would always make great conversation (although I suppose she might get tired of it).

Cons would be that (especially in school), the word ‘story’ is used a lot… so that might get frustrating. It might make the name less special in that it’s being constantly repeated. But who knows. I say if you like it, and you wouldn’t mind it being your name, you should go for it.

Another [name_u]Berry[/name_u] was thinking about [name_f]Astoria[/name_f] nn [name_u]Story[/name_u] and I like that! Honestly, though, I don’t think the slightly nerdy/hipster [name_u]Story[/name_u] goes with your other children’s classic names, [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u]. Maybe that doesn’t matter to you, but I am partial to matching sibsets  I would personally go with another vintage classic, and I would be glad to offer suggestions.

On a side note, I think [name_u]Story[/name_u] would be a cute name if, as bassilly suggested, your daughter loves reading and writing. But what if she doesn’t really fit the name, if she’s really sporty or something like that. Then she might not like it.

Best of luck choosing a name!

Thank you for your replies! I do like the name [name_f]Astoria[/name_f], especially that it gives her another option. We call our daughter [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_u]Penny[/name_u] as a nn. I think story fits better with [name_u]Penny[/name_u] and I definitely want all our children’s names to go well together. I am totally up for any other suggestions!!

Maybe you could use [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] with the nickname [name_u]Story[/name_u]. I think [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] would fit well with your other kids’ names.

I’m personally not a fan. It’s more of a word than an actual name to me. Perhaps it could be a nickname for something (but I’m not sure what). Good luck!

I agree with pp that [name_f]Astoria[/name_f] Nn [name_u]Story[/name_u] would be great! I think then it would fit well with your other children.

Personally ever since I heard it, I have loved the name [name_u]Story[/name_u].

[name_u]Story[/name_u] is not my style (and I have trouble picturing it on a grown woman). But [name_f]Astoria[/name_f] nn. [name_u]Story[/name_u]? Totally digging it, especially with [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] nn. [name_u]Penny[/name_u] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u]. You could also get there with a first and middle like [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] or [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Honoria[/name_f].

Other names that might go well with your sibset:

[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] (nn. [name_u]Rory[/name_u]?)
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] (nn. [name_f]Liza[/name_f]?)
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f], either standalone or as a nn. for [name_f]Lucille[/name_f], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]…
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] — the nicknames possibilities are amazing: [name_f]Millie[/name_f], [name_f]Tildy[/name_f], and [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] are my favorites.
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]/[name_f]Norah[/name_f], either standalone or as a nn. for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. But I think [name_f]Nora[/name_f]/h could stand on its own with [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u].
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f] (nn. [name_u]Romy[/name_u] or [name_f]Mona[/name_f]? But [name_u]Penny[/name_u] and [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] sound cute as is, too.)

[name_u]Love[/name_u] the suggestion of [name_f]Astoria[/name_f] nn [name_u]Story[/name_u].

Really love [name_u]Story[/name_u] although it does lack substance. It needs a pretty substantial surname to carry it. [name_u]Story[/name_u] [name_m]Smith[/name_m] is very cute… but too cute. Sounds like a weather reporter (no offense to you meteorologists out there).

I would use it, but I would give her a very proper sounding, formal name in the middle. Ideally one with nickname potential. Like [name_u]Story[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] or [name_u]Story[/name_u] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]. Something to give her options. Also, [name_f]Astoria[/name_f] is great because if she hates her name she has the dignified [name_f]Astoria[/name_f] or the cutsy [name_f]Tori[/name_f] to fall back on.

I love all the other suggestions! Thank you! This baby has been so much harder to name than my other two ” I added [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] to our list. I also really like [name_f]Astoria[/name_f] “[name_u]Story[/name_u]” [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]! I already had [name_f]Francine[/name_f] in mind as a possible mn… anyways, Thank you all! Keep the opinions and suggestions rolling!

I find it odd but that’s ok, just not my vibe.

I like the suggestion of [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] nn [name_u]Story[/name_u]!
