Opinions on These Double-Barrel Firsts?

What are your thoughts on these double-barrel first names?

I like [name]Amy[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] and [name]Billie[/name]-[name]Rose[/name] best, though probably wouldn’t actually hyphenate, just use [name]Amy[/name] [name]Jane[/name]/[name]Billie[/name] [name]Rose[/name].

I like [name]Billie[/name] a lot (it would also be good for honouring someone I love) but can’t decide how to use it as it feels nickname-ish.

[name]Amy[/name] [name]Jane[/name] is actually adorable and perfect to me, and I would always use both together.

I like [name]Anna[/name]-[name]Paulina[/name]/[name]Anna[/name]-[name]Polina[/name] a lot, actually. I think I’d probably shorten it to just [name]Anna[/name]-[name]Lena[/name]/[name]Anna[/name]-[name]Lina[/name] in everyday use, but I think it’s very pretty. The rest don’t really appeal to me, sorry.

Then again, I’m very particular about double barrels. I love them, but I don’t really want a predictable double barrel, or one that sounds too dated (or too southern, really), if that makes sense. My favorites are [name]Anne[/name]-[name]Sophie[/name] and [name]Eve[/name]-[name]Claire[/name], but I also really love [name]Anne[/name]-[name]Laure[/name], [name]Eva[/name] [name]Clara[/name], [name]Anna[/name] [name]Clara[/name] (an old family name of mine–[name]Anna[/name] [name]Clara[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]–and I think it’s just brilliant!), [name]Ella[/name] [name]Kate[/name]/[name]Ella[/name] [name]Cate[/name], [name]Marie[/name]-[name]Grace[/name], and [name]Marie[/name]-[name]Cecile[/name]…

[name]Katie[/name]-[name]Jane[/name]- [name]Do[/name] not like this one, [name]Katie[/name] seems nicknamey, Prefer [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Jane[/name]
[name]Billie[/name]-[name]Rose[/name] - this one is cute and fits perfectly as a combo
[name]Amy[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] - Nice
[name]Anna[/name]-[name]Paulina[/name]- Bit of a mouthful, not good flow either. [name]Anne[/name]-[name]Pauline[/name] may be a bit of a better flow
[name]Toby[/name]-[name]Rose[/name] - [name]Don[/name]'t like [name]Toby[/name] for a girl. Double Barrel names I like with [name]Rose[/name] = [name]Mia[/name]-[name]Rose[/name], [name]Emma[/name]-[name]Rose[/name], [name]Clara[/name]-[name]Rose[/name]
[name]Nella[/name]-Miette - This one is nice.

Other suggestions…

wink articulates a point I didn’t:

I think I like it best when the -y ending of the first name doesn’t turn it into a nickname, which then sounds odd to be followed by a middle name, to me. So more [name]Amy[/name]/[name]Lily[/name]/[name]Emily[/name]/[name]Ivy[/name] type names than [name]Katie[/name] or [name]Toby[/name].

[name]Amy[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] and [name]Anna[/name]-[name]Paulina[/name] work the best to me. I had a great great grandmother named [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Emily[/name] Doolittle and I’ve often thought about using her names in some sort of barrelled combo.

Something like [name]Emily[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] - [name]Emmy[/name]-[name]Liz[/name] etc. It needs work.

[name]Katie[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] - [name]Don[/name]'t like it, sound like a nickname
[name]Billie[/name]-[name]Rose[/name] - love this one! Works well
[name]Amy[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] - It works but I don’t love it.
[name]Anna[/name]-[name]Paulina[/name] - I don’t think it works.
[name]Toby[/name]-[name]Rose[/name] - I don’t like [name]Toby[/name] for a girl, but I think it work okay as [name]Toby[/name]-[name]Rose[/name]
[name]Nella[/name]-Miette - I think it works NMS but it works!

I went to high school with a girl named [name]Amie[/name]-[name]Jane[/name], she was very friendly. I think [name]Amy[/name]-[name]Jane[/name] is the best from your list by far!

The only one I really like is [name]Anna[/name]- [name]Paulina[/name].

I’m loving Anna-Paulina and Katie-Jane, the others are nms but aren’t bad. The only one I really don’t care for is Miette because I don’t consider it a name since it technically isn’t and I associate it with table crumbs and too many other things that mainly have to do with food.

Thanks for all the feedback!
