We are pregnant with our 4th girl and having a tough time with her name. Naming our first three was very hard because of difference in style and because we have A LOT of women and girls in our family (names already taken)
We differ in style a lot, we are both southern so we do both like southern style but he leans more towards BNOG names or just not as soft sounding names and I like super frilly names, very feminine southern and girly.
Our 3 girls are
[name_f]Priscilla[/name_f]- Obviously my choice.
[name_f]Jolene[/name_f]- We actually picked this together and equally loved it.
[name_f]Loretta[/name_f]- My husband decided on [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] to honor my late sister, I happily agreed.
My dilemma now: I have a list of 5 names I [name_f]ADORE[/name_f] and think fit well with my other children’s names, he said he would be fine with any of them (he’s just being nice) but he has two names he likes and they are so different, I just don’t think they would match with the other girls style wise.
His names: [name_u]Colby[/name_u] (Boy to me), [name_u]Presley[/name_u] (someone please tell him we cant have a [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] and a [name_u]Presley[/name_u]!!!, he thinks its COOL!)
He really wants her middle name to be [name_u]Carter[/name_u], to honor his dad, and though its a boy name to me I will honor his dad and use it as her middle name but to me a boy first name is for a boy…
I really like your girls’ names-- they are lovely-- vintage and feminine and with a southern flare! [name_u]Colby[/name_u] and [name_u]Presley[/name_u] definitely do not belong there. Using [name_u]Carter[/name_u] as a mn seems like a good compromise, but maybe another C name could honor as well: [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Clarissa[/name_f], [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f], [name_f]Claudia[/name_f], [name_f]Christabel[/name_f], [name_f]Cynthia[/name_f], or [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] would all work well.
From your list, I like [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] best. [name_u]Cheyenne[/name_u] seems too modern, [name_f]Nicolette[/name_f] has a very similar ending to [name_f]Loretta[/name_f], and [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] is a little close to [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f].
Some other possibilities:
[name_f]Priscilla[/name_f], [name_f]Jolene[/name_f], [name_f]Loretta[/name_f], and

I definitely agree with you on this, [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] and [name_u]Presley[/name_u] would not be cool! Your daughters have lovely names and I don’t think [name_u]Colby[/name_u] or [name_u]Presley[/name_u] fit with then but I really like [name_u]Carter[/name_u] as a middle name, especially with the family significance.
[name_u]Cheyenne[/name_u] doesn’t seem and great fit with them either and, while I like [name_f]Nicolette[/name_f], I’m not sure about it with [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] as the endings seem too close. However, I love [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and I think they both sound gorgeous with your girls’ names and with the middle name [name_u]Carter[/name_u].
I do like [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] as well but either [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_u]Carter[/name_u] or [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_u]Carter[/name_u] would be my choice.
My favorite for your set of girls is [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]. I also absolutely love [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], though I’m not sure how I feel about [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_u]Carter[/name_u]. [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]'s pretty adorable, and I think it fits the middle name the best, though I think any of them would work. If it were me, from your choices I would go with [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_u]Carter[/name_u] or [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_u]Carter[/name_u].
As a previous poster mentioned, you could try dressing up [name_u]Carter[/name_u] a little-- maybe you’d consider [name_f]Caterina[/name_f], which I think is pretty similar to the namesake, or [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], which isn’t very frilly but is more feminine than [name_u]Carter[/name_u]. However, I think [name_u]Carter[/name_u] will make a perfectly lovely middle name, and it will be really sweet for her to have that family connection-- no harm keeping it as is, especially if it’s important to your husband. If you want to consider other possible compromises (not saying that it’s always the best idea, your best bet might be you choosing the first name and him choosing the middle name) you could try finding something similar to what he likes, perhaps a tailored nickname for a more frilly full name-- like maybe [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] nn [name_f]Callie[/name_f] instead of [name_u]Colby[/name_u], or [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] nn [name_u]Penny[/name_u] instead of [name_u]Presley[/name_u]. Not necessarily these names, persay, as I don’t know that [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] (for example) actually fits, but something like that. But perhaps you don’t like nicknames and so that wouldn’t really work. [name_m]Just[/name_m] throwing that out there as an idea, feel free to ignore it.
Good luck finding something that ‘fits’ and that you both like!
[name_f]Tenley[/name_f]? Honestly I love [name_u]Presley[/name_u] and if it wasn’t for my unfortunate [name_m]Elvis[/name_m] connection it would be on my own list. You are probably going to hate me for this but I think you should go with [name_u]Presley[/name_u] for three reasons A) You have [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] and then you mutually named [name_f]Jolene[/name_f] and then you honoured your sister with [name_f]Loretta[/name_f] if you named the little one [name_u]Presley[/name_u] you could have one each and B) [name_u]Presley[/name_u] is very southern exactly your style (minus the frilliness.) and C) It sounds lovely with your sibling names! If you wanted to compromise you could have a frilly first middle such as =
I do think the name [name_u]Presley[/name_u] is cute (for a boy) but having a daughter named [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] (Prisiclla [name_u]Presley[/name_u], [name_m]Elvis[/name_m]’ wife) and then a [name_u]Presley[/name_u] is too much connection. To me that’s like having a [name_m]Johnny[/name_m] and a [name_m]Cash[/name_m] or an [name_m]Elvis[/name_m] and a [name_u]Presley[/name_u] or a [name_u]Michael[/name_u] and a [name_m]Jackson[/name_m]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] or [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
My two fav names from your group would have to be [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]. Though I don’t 100% love the flow, I think [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_u]Carter[/name_u] and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_u]Carter[/name_u] are both lovely way to get the name you like, matches well with her older sisters, still gets a name he wants, and honors his father.
I really like [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] and [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] from your list, and I think they both go really well with your other daughters’ names.
Honestly I feel like that’s a connection that isn’t immediate. If [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] was a name of a song he sung yeah I’d see it but as only older/[name_u]Presley[/name_u] fans would notice they could get away with it. Personally I disagree with you on the boys name only. If it meant son of ____ I could see it and admit it but it isn’t a gendered meaning “[name_m]Priest[/name_m]'s meadow”. I still stand that a little [name_u]Presley[/name_u] would be cute.
