My husband and I are expecting our second child in the next few weeks. We do not know the sex of the baby. We’ve narrowed down our extensive list of names to the following four: [name]Lucy[/name], [name]Adele[/name], [name]Henry[/name], and [name]Oliver[/name]. We need to get down to just one girl and one boy name. Our 3 year old son is named [name]Benjamin[/name] and goes by [name]Ben[/name] most of the time. Our last name is [name]Mason[/name]. What do you think sounds the best with our last name and with our son’s name??
[name]Hi[/name] there! Congrats on your second baby! I hope you have a wonderful delivery!
You know if you wanted to, you could easily wait to chose between the two names once your baby is born. Many people on Nameberry seem to advocate this approach and I see nothing wrong with it! One name may feel more right than the other once your sweet one is in your arms!
That being said, with [name]Ben[/name] and your last name, I would go with:
[name]Oliver[/name]
or
[name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Henry[/name] repeats the “en” sound in [name]Ben[/name]/[name]Benjamin[/name], which is why I ruled it out.
I think [name]Lucy[/name] goes well with [name]Ben[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Mason[/name] also flows better than [name]Adele[/name] [name]Mason[/name].
Then again if you were to call [name]Adele[/name] “[name]Addie[/name]”, I think that would be a darling pairing with [name]Ben[/name]. [name]Adele[/name] and [name]Benjamin[/name] also seem more balanced in terms of full names whereas [name]Lucy[/name] is more of a nickname name.
I really think you have beautiful names picked out though and you can’t go wrong!
Good luck to you!
I love all the names on your list. However, with your last name I think [name]Adele[/name] works better. [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Mason[/name] is a bit “s” heavy for me, and [name]Adele[/name] [name]Mason[/name] is sweet plus the nickname [name]Addy[/name] is darling, especially with [name]Ben[/name]. [name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Adele[/name] go well together in my mind, they aren’t matchy at all but still fit together nicely. [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name] are both great options, but I think with [name]Ben[/name] I like [name]Oliver[/name] better. [name]Ben[/name] and [name]Henry[/name] share the “en” which is not too bad, but I like to stay away from repeating sounds in sibsets if possible. [name]Ben[/name] and [name]Ollie[/name] (if you use that nickname) are super cute together plus the OCD namer in me likes that [name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name] are both three syllables.
So, in short: [name]Adele[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name] are my picks!
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Mason[/name] sounds nicer together than [name]Adele[/name] [name]Mason[/name] at least to me. I do like the name [name]Adele[/name], though.
I would pick [name]Oliver[/name] for the boy name, even though [name]Henry[/name] is a good name, because [name]Ben[/name] and [name]Henry[/name] have a repetitive sound.
i know a brother and sister that are [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Ben[/name] and i think its really cute. i also like [name]Oliver[/name] with [name]Ben[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name]. I like [name]Adela[/name] or [name]Adeline[/name] more than [name]Adele[/name], if you were to go with that one, though.
