Opinions on these try-out girl names?

I feel like my list is all over the place, I need some berry wisdom!
What do you think of the following names?

  • [name_f]Mattea[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Stella[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Eva[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Millicent[/name_f]

Thank you!

[name_f]Mattea[/name_f] - It’s a beautiful name. I’ve never been able to get into it 100%, but it would be refreshing to hear on a little girl!
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] - no matter how hard I try (and how many other [name_f]Ella[/name_f] names I adore!), I can’t get into [name_f]Stella[/name_f]. Sorry!
[name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] - it’s so much fun to say, and I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]Tally[/name_u] and [name_f]Lulu[/name_f], but I’m not as excited about [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] now as I once was years ago.
[name_f]Eva[/name_f] - [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] it. [name_f]Eva[/name_f]'s one of my favorite names of all time.
[name_f]Millicent[/name_f] - don’t get the appeal, sorry, although [name_f]Millie[/name_f] is cute.

I’d keep [name_f]Eva[/name_f] for sure, and probably [name_f]Mattea[/name_f] and [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]!

Good luck!

Thank you @ash! I love your perspective.

Others?

[name_f]Mattea[/name_f]: [name_f]Mattea[/name_f] sounds distinctly Italian to me, and I don’t know if I would use it without having a connection to [name_f]Italy[/name_f].
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]: I absolutely adore [name_f]Stella[/name_f]. [name_f]Stella[/name_f] is my nickname (a far cry from my real name, [name_f]Erin[/name_f], but it’s a long story), and I wish it was my real name sometimes. There’s something a little different but still very familiar about it.
[name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]: [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] has a very whimsical feel, similar to [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Calliope[/name_f], etc. Not my style, but definitely still a good name.
[name_f]Eva[/name_f]: I don’t know about where you live, but in the US, [name_f]Eva[/name_f] and [name_f]Ava[/name_f] are really common. I’m not a huge fan, sorry!
[name_f]Millicent[/name_f]: For me, [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] is my least favorite, and I think it’s for two main reasons: first, I’m not sure it’s ready for a comeback, so it still feels a little old and dusty to me, and second, it reminds me of Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty. Sorry again!

My picks are definitely [name_f]Stella[/name_f], [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f], and maybe [name_f]Mattea[/name_f].

Thank you @violet. I agree with the Italian feel of [name_f]Mattea[/name_f], and while I do have Italian heritage (at least 25%) I wonder if it’s “too much” for a girl outside of [name_f]Italy[/name_f].

Anyone else?

I like [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f], and [name_f]Mattea[/name_f] as first names. [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] could make a nice middle name

I love [name_f]Eva[/name_f]! It is amazing… sweet and strong

[name_f]Stella[/name_f] is my second favorite from the list. I love the slight quirkiness that it has, and it definitely has celestial imagery for me. Also, this is the first time I have seen [name_f]Mattea[/name_f], and I really like it! It is super interesting and fun.

Thank you both! [name_f]Mattea[/name_f] is pretty new to me too, but I really adore it!

Others?

[name_f]Mattea[/name_f] - very sweet and feminine, sounds European to me, not necessarily Italian - 7/10
[name_f]Stella[/name_f] - I like/dislike this name, love the meaning, but I know at least 3 dogs called [name_f]Stella[/name_f]! I prefer [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] or [name_f]Estella[/name_f] - 5/10
[name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] - reminds me of Bugsy [name_m]Malone[/name_m], I’ve taught a couple of [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]'s and they’ve all been badly behaved, can’t get past that association, but I like [name_f]Lula[/name_f] as a nickname - 4/10
[name_f]Eva[/name_f] - so very pretty, it’s short and elegant, but too popular for me - 8/10
[name_f]Millicent[/name_f] - I know way too many “[name_f]Millie[/name_f]'s”, not a fan - 2/10

I love [name_f]Mattea[/name_f] & [name_f]Eva[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Mattea[/name_f] is fine for a girl not living [name_f]Italy[/name_f] esp. if you have Italian heritage! I’m warming up to [name_f]Stella[/name_f] a little more lately but it’s not something I would use. I prefer [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] or [name_f]Estella[/name_f]. Probably because I don’t love [name_f]Stella[/name_f]! [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] seems more streamlined and sophisticated to me. I’ve never been a big fan of [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] I guess it’s nms! I’m also not a fan of [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] but I do love [name_f]Melisande[/name_f] ([name_m]French[/name_m] form of [name_f]Millicent[/name_f])!

  • [name_f]Mattea[/name_f]: it makes me think of [name_m]Matthew[/name_m]?
  • [name_f]Stella[/name_f]: I love [name_f]Ella[/name_f], but [name_f]Stella[/name_f] seems a bit dated to me
  • Talulah: it seems childish to me, purely because a character in a children’s book I read a lot when I was little had the name!
  • [name_f]Eva[/name_f]: nms but I like it, I think it’s sweet and spunky
  • [name_f]Millicent[/name_f]: I find it too old fashioned, but I like [name_f]Millie[/name_f]

Some lovely names here!

[name_f]Mattea[/name_f]: this is really beautiful and super spunky! It’s of foreign origin, sure, but not at all difficult to spell or pronounce for non-Italian speakers. I think this might be my favourite on your list - it’s so fresh and unexpected! It reminds me of one of my other underused European favourites: Taddea.

[name_f]Stella[/name_f]: I can certainly see the appeal of this strong, pretty name, but it’s not really for me. I find it a bit steely in sound, and perhaps a bit overexposed recently.

[name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]: for some reason, I always think of [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] and [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] as a set, and of the two I have to say that I prefer [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]. However, [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] is certainly bright, bouncy, fun and girly - it strikes me as the sort of name that a little girl would really enjoy having

[name_f]Eva[/name_f]: beautiful, international, super sophisticated… but pretty popular at the moment along with a whole family of other [name_f]Eve[/name_f]-related names. There’s nothing wrong with that, of course, and I can absolutely understand why so many people choose these gorgeous names, but it does mean that I struggle to get particularly excited about [name_f]Eva[/name_f].

[name_f]Millicent[/name_f]: I’m not a fan of this one, I’m afraid. It’s a bit lacy and at the same time a bit austere for me - the immediate imagery I get is paper doilies, pot pourri and the unfortunate Miss Bulstrode from [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m].

Thank you all!

I’m glad that it seems [name_f]Mattea[/name_f] would work outside of [name_f]Italy[/name_f]. I’ll keep [name_f]Mattea[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f] and [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] on my list for now

I love [name_f]Mattea[/name_f], [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f], and [name_f]Eva[/name_f].

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Stella[/name_f] and [name_f]Eva[/name_f]! Would make great sisters

What a treasure trove! They’re all so pretty and distinctive, but [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] and [name_f]Mattea[/name_f] are my favourites. [name_f]Lovely[/name_f].
