[name_f]Elaine[/name_f] is a family name on my mom’s side and is the [name_m]French[/name_m] form of [name_f]Helen[/name_f], my grandmother’s name. My husband and I decided to go with [name_f]Elena[/name_f], as he is Spanish and I am Italian. [name_f]Patricia[/name_f] is also a special family name to me.
Our boy name is [name_m]Santino[/name_m] [name_m]Jos[/name_m]é, both names on my husband’s side.
I love [name_f]Elena[/name_f], and it’s even better if it honors a loved one! [name_f]Patricia[/name_f] does seems a bit out of place, considering your heritage and the name of your other child.
If you are perhaps looking for a similar option, maybe [name_f]Elana[/name_f] [name_u]Patrice[/name_u]. My sister in law is named [name_f]Elana[/name_f] (EE-lan-ah, the same E sound in the word [name_f]Bee[/name_f]) which is a lovely alternative to [name_f]Elena[/name_f] and quite unique. [name_u]Patrice[/name_u] steers the name away from both the first and middle name ending in an “a” and gives the name a more modern feel.
The double “a” ending isn’t great but that’s ok if they are meaningful names. I’d recommend [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_u]Patrice[/name_u] or [name_f]Helen[/name_f] [name_f]Patricia[/name_f]. Also [name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_u]Patrice[/name_u].
[name_f]Elena[/name_f] is a lovely, lyrical name which travels wonderfully well… but don’t you think it feels a bit close if you already have an Elaina?
