Opinions on this unusual name?

What do you think of [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]? Could it realistically be worn by a real person? I’m not sure I love any of the nicknames, but I would consider using [name_f]Aggie[/name_f]. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any nickname suggestions other than Auggie or [name_u]Gussie[/name_u]?

Would you use this name or the name [name_f]Louise[/name_f]? Also, how do you think they go in a sibset? What names would you give [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]'s sisters?

I think [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] is a very pretty name, not unusual at all, and I think [name_f]Louise[/name_f] and [name_u]Augusta[/name_u] go great together and make an adorable sibset! I’m not too sure about nicknames however, [name_f]Aggie[/name_f] is quite nice and isn’t too far-fetched. I’ve heard of the nickname [name_f]Star[/name_f] for [name_f]Augusta[/name_f], what about that? Well, maybe that’s a bit too far-fetched… Or maybe even Auzzy/Auzzie? How about Gusta?

[name_f]Augusta[/name_f] still sounds like a stuffy Victorian aunt to me.

I love [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] and it sounds great both as [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] and as siblings. Unsure about nicknames though

[name_f]Augusta[/name_f] was used a few times in my family tree, in the nineteenth century. It’s the type I think I would use for a character, but on a child born today, it’s a bit too clunky for my taste. With the growing popularity of [name_u]August[/name_u] for boys, it wouldn’t be considered too unusual really, but I just can’t say it’s a name I would love having.

I’m not a big [name_f]Aggie[/name_f] fan, but I do think there’s something really cool and spunky about a girl named [name_u]Gus[/name_u].

Personally I have a soft spot for [name_f]Louise[/name_f]. I also like [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], which takes it from Greatest Generation (nothing wrong with that) to more European. I do think she would make a decent sister for [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]. I would pair her with rather Victorian sounding names, but ones that aren’t too fussy, such as:
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f]
[name_f]Marceline[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Millicent[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f]
[name_f]Virginia[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Zelda[/name_f]

I love this name as it is a family name for me. FYI, [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]'s sister was named [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] and I think this is a great sister set. I know a girl named Auggie (short for [name_u]August[/name_u]) so I think this name and nickname would work perfectly well today; it fits in nicely with other vintage names that are currently popular. You could also use Tassie. That said, I would personally probably prefer to use [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] in the middle name spot, but that is because I enjoy short first names.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]! It strikes me as a strong, regal, rather magnificent name.

Not a fan of [name_f]Aggie[/name_f], I’m afraid, but I actually quite like Auggie! Stretching a little further, how about [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m] or Otter?

I think it’s a little stuffy but also quite sweet. I think you’re ahead of the curve, names like [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] and [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] used to be considered old-fashioned and are now quite trendy. I think it blends in well with more ‘mainstream ‘ names like [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f].

I like [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]. I would love to meet a little [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]! [name_f]Aggie[/name_f] is cute as a nickname. [name_u]Gusty[/name_u], [name_u]August[/name_u], or [name_u]Gus[/name_u] could work too. I love [name_f]Louise[/name_f] but I don’t think it fits with [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]. Its just a different style. I would go with something strong, unusual, and vintage with [name_f]Augusta[/name_f].

Maybe [name_f]Euphemia[/name_f], [name_f]Eugenia[/name_f], [name_f]Eulalia[/name_f], [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], [name_f]Anthea[/name_f], [name_f]Honora[/name_f], [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], or [name_f]Gloria[/name_f].

I really like Augusta, but it needs a cute nickname. I think Aggie is a lovely nickname. Augusta is quite clunky, but it’s usable. I definitely prefer it over Louise. Augusta and Louise sound a bit strange together. I think I’d pair Augusta with:

Myrtle
Clementine
Camilla
Barbara
Odette

I love [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]! It’s a classic name but not super common. Auggie or [name_u]Gus[/name_u] are super cute nicknames.

[name_f]Augusta[/name_f] is a little stuffy but in a cool way. [name_f]Louise[/name_f] and [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] pair well together

as for nicknames I do think [name_f]Aggie[/name_f] is cute you could also use Auggie, Austa, [name_f]Asta[/name_f], Atta, [name_f]Gertie[/name_f], Goose, [name_u]Ottie[/name_u]

I love [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]. I don’t know about other nicknames, but I think [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] and [name_f]Louise[/name_f] would be great sisters.

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Augustina[/name_f]?

[name_f]Augusta[/name_f] is a lovely name, I think it’s not unusual at all. Uncommon maybe, but not unusual. I think that [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] is a beautiful combo, however the idea of [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] and [name_f]Louise[/name_f] as a sibset is just too sweet to pass up.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helped!

I think [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] is totally usable! Older names are very much in style and I think [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] settles in nicely with the Mabels, Violas, Rubys, Hazels, etc. seen on young children right now. [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] isn’t an overused one, so I don’t see any reason not to go for it!

Nicknames other than [name_f]Aggie[/name_f]/Auggie/[name_u]Gussie[/name_u]:

Agga
[name_f]Gusta[/name_f]
Gussa
Agsa
[name_f]Asta[/name_f]
Austa

I don’t see [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] as unusual, but it is unique without being over the top.
I know 2 people named [name_u]August[/name_u]; one goes by “[name_u]Gus[/name_u]” which suits her, and the other is always called [name_f]Augusta[/name_f], no nickname.

I really like [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]. It’s a bit clunky, but it’s also strong and distinct. I much prefer it over [name_f]Louise[/name_f], and while they’re not the best fit, they’re not a weird combination. I would expecta an [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] to have a sister called [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f], [name_f]Millicent[/name_f], Margeurite, [name_f]Thomasin[/name_f] or something else that’s strong, distinct and slightly older sounding.

Were my paternal grandmother still here, she would be nonplussed at all of the positive feelings for [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]…Grandma was named after her two grandmothers: [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]. She hated both of her names. It just shows that names certainly do go in & out of style!

[name_f]Augusta[/name_f] is gorgeous! [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] is nice together. I’d just call her by her full name b/c I can’t imagine letting anyone call me [name_u]Gus[/name_u] or [name_f]Aggie[/name_f]!
