I love [name_f]Tia[/name_f], it’s just so pretty and sweet & I love the nicknames Tee and TeeTee/ Titi. I think it’s so much prettier and more unusual than [name_f]Mia[/name_f].

Well I love on the southwest so to me, [name_f]Tia[/name_f] means aunt in Spanish.
Also I volunteer at a rescue and there’s a dog named [name_f]Tia[/name_f].
I do think it’s a beautiful name. I just couldn’t use it because of my location.
I majored in Spanish in college so [name_f]Tia[/name_f] is a no-go for me; it would feel like calling a baby Grandma or Cousin. The -ia names are sweet but I prefer [name_f]Thea[/name_f], [name_f]Lia[/name_f], Sia, [name_f]Fia[/name_f], and [name_f]Pia[/name_f]. But if you live in a place without a big Spanish-speaking population, it’s fine and certainly quite pretty. Titi, in particular, is a common nickname for Aunt and is what my Spanish-speaking niece and nephew call me.
When I think of [name_f]Tia[/name_f], I automatically think of [name_f]Tia[/name_f] & [name_f]Tamera[/name_f], but that’s just me
Not a fan. I have known two, so maybe that’s why.
I like it! The only [name_f]Tia[/name_f] I’ve met was a beautiful jazz singer. And of course there is [name_f]Tia[/name_f] Carrere, who is gorgeous and talented. [name_f]Tia[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f], although likely meaning “Aunt [name_f]Marie[/name_f]” is one sexy liqueur.
I would pair it with a really weird, fresh and sassy middle, maybe go double barrel:

‘IsoLleth’ -sorry I am laughing because i chose [name_f]Tia[/name_f] for that very reason. For myself! I am getting very cantankerous in my old age and I ask many younger (and a little obnoxious) people I work with to call me [name_f]Tia[/name_f]. They send texts “[name_f]Tia[/name_f] ! text me!” - I feel like i am having a little laugh becaus I feel I handle their lack of respect and overfamiliarity in a good way. MY secret. Not that well known here. I explain this practise to those who are well acquainted with my given names, and explain to some that I am following the Australian Indigineous people’s way of youngers’ calling women ‘Aunty’ to show respect.
Having derailed your post rosequartz-my apologies- Many, most people love [name_f]Tia[/name_f] and combined with my Husbands surname-I get many compliments on what a delightful name it is. Its great for Hair Appts and O.N.O situations. Recently when i was talking to long term friends about how I am thinking of changing my short unpronouceable 2nd name-a small matter, they suggested names like [name_m]Matt[/name_m]éa, anything to incorporate [name_f]Tia[/name_f]. Seriously people like it so it’s just not the impolite youngster but half known to me use [name_f]Tia[/name_f]. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] my ‘story’ is some help:D.
I’ve loved the name [name_f]Tia[/name_f] since I was a kid & read Escape to Witch Mountain. The point earlier posters brought up about [name_f]Tia[/name_f] meaning “aunt” in Spanish is a good one, but if your geographical location isn’t heavily Spanish-influenced, in my opinion it won’t be an issue. I don’t know if you’ve thought about having a longer name for the birth certificate & using [name_f]Tia[/name_f] as a nn (maybe [name_f]Tatiana[/name_f], nn [name_f]Tia[/name_f])? Or spelling it Téa, à la Téa [name_u]Leoni[/name_u]? (Although [name_m]French[/name_m] speakers would want to pronounce that [name_u]TAY[/name_u]-ah…)
I’m not a fan. I’m half Hispanic and am known to my brother’s kids as tia because it means aunt in Spanish. I met someone named [name_f]Tia[/name_f] a couple of years ago and I was completely thrown off. I had never met anyone with it as a name before. So, having my background, it’s just not right. But, you name you kids whatever you feel is right for you!
