Hello! A lot of my favorite boy names are unisex names used more commonly for girls such as:
Sage
[name_u]Emery[/name_u]
[name_u]Sasha[/name_u]
[name_u]Arden[/name_u]/Eden
[name_u]Hollis[/name_u]
[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u]
(And a lot more!)
My number one boy name is [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_m]William[/name_m] and I can’t imagine my first son being named anything else. [name_m]Even[/name_m] better, my SO loves [name_u]Sage[/name_u], too, and he hates all of my favorite names! The main problem is that my entire family thinks using [name_u]Sage[/name_u] on a boy is ridiculous and would set him up for ridicule. I don’t want my future son to be embarrassed of his name, so I’ve considered other options, but most of them are all equally “feminine” (my second favorite being [name_u]Emery[/name_u] and my third being [name_u]August[/name_u])! I’m of the mindset that no matter what I name my children, there will be a period of time where they don’t like that name, but I’m worried that [name_u]Sage[/name_u] would be worse than using a strictly masculine name. Opinions? Any “feminine” unisex names that you prefer on boys? TYIA! [name_f]My[/name_f] family has me questioning my love
Sage is so handsome for a boy! I think it really does work on either gender. [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_m]William[/name_m] is so handsome! [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] is actually a boys’ name in origin, so it definitely works. Sweet and quirky [name_u]Hollis[/name_u] makes a great name for a boy.
Thanks for the thoughts! [name_f]My[/name_f] SO is Russian and [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] is a Russian nickname for boys so I’d thought he would like it, too. But in his words, [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] is “too Russian.”
[name_u]Sage[/name_u] is super uncommon where I live, so I wouldn’t think it would be any more weird to meet a boy [name_u]Sage[/name_u] than a girl. [name_u]August[/name_u] is predominantly masculine where I live and I have never heard of someone named [name_u]Emery[/name_u] of either gender, so think you could use any of them.
I love [name_u]Robin[/name_u] and [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] on boys. [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] is also nice.
The only [name_u]Sage[/name_u] I know is a boy, actually. I think most of the names you list could be very usable for a boy, especially [name_u]Emery[/name_u] and [name_u]Hollis[/name_u].
I love [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] on a boy, it’s on my list as a nickname for [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]
I love [name_u]Sage[/name_u], [name_u]Sasha[/name_u], [name_u]Arden[/name_u], and [name_u]Hollis[/name_u]! I think with most of these I wouldn’t think “girl,” if you said [name_u]Allison[/name_u] or [name_u]Hilary[/name_u] I would have a hard time picturing a boy. I also like [name_u]Raven[/name_u], [name_u]Robin[/name_u], and [name_u]Harper[/name_u] (this one may be a bit of a stretch) on boys.
I think all of these names (with the exception of [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] - too far gone - and [name_u]Eden[/name_u] - too feminine imo) would sound wonderful on a boy! [name_u]Sage[/name_u] is definitely still unisex and would be lovely on a boy or girl. [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_m]William[/name_m] is very handsome! Also it sounds like the absolute perfect name for you and your S/O, so definitely use it! [name_m]Don[/name_m]’t let family stop you
I really love [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] too! Shame it’s “too Russian”
I much prefer [name_u]Sage[/name_u] on a boy. Actually, all the names you listed, except [name_u]Arden[/name_u] and [name_u]Sasha[/name_u], I prefer on a boy. Honestly, I don’t really see this as an issue, but maybe that’s dependant on where you live [name_u]Sage[/name_u] may rank higher for girls, but it does rank for boys, so your son won’t be the only one out there.
I don’t know any children named [name_u]Sage[/name_u] so I think it’s totally usable on a boy. There’s nothing about it that feels remotely exclusively-feminine, except maybe for rhyming with [name_f]Paige[/name_f].
The only one from this list that I wouldn’t use is [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] bc it’s so popular. [name_u]Sascha[/name_u] is on my list for a boy! I much prefer it for a boy than a girl.
All the names you list are perfectly suitable for a boy. I also love names for boys that many would consider “too feminine”. Honestly, I don’t think there’s such a thing. Very rarely do we say a name is “too masculine”…
I think [name_u]Sage[/name_u] is totally unisex. And there’s no problem with using a “feminine” name, there are hundreds of girls named [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] or [name_u]Everett[/name_u] outside and people don’t find them ridiculous. Sounding “feminine” shouldn’t be something to ridicule when being “masculine” is considered as cool.
ETA: The only Sage I know is a male, if you’d like to hear.
I went to school with a boy named [name_u]Sage[/name_u] and that’s the only time I’ve ever heard it used so I heavily associate it being a boys name but also definitely see it as unisex. I think it’s a great name!
Sage is cute for a boy. I actually really prefer it for a boy. He could go by Ge or [name_f]Aggy[/name_f] as a nickname if he reaches a point where he is not loving his name.
I personally love [name_u]Addison[/name_u] and [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] for boys.
I like some feminine names for boys as long as it’s paired with a strong masculine middle name. [name_m]Just[/name_m] has a better ring to it for me. Some of my faves:
[name_u]Adley[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u]
[name_u]Addison[/name_u] [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] ([name_u]Adi[/name_u])
[name_m]Adrian[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] [name_m]Cole[/name_m]
I personally don’t like [name_u]Sage[/name_u] and he may be set up for ridicule with that one. But you could always go with a different first name and have his middle name be [name_u]Sage[/name_u] and you can call him that as a nickname. When he’s at school or around friends though he may prefer a more masculine name.
Sage feels entirely unisex to me - wise, earthy and sweet. [name_u]Sage[/name_u] [name_m]William[/name_m] is very charming.
I think people need to get over the idea that naming a boy something unisex or gentle will emasculate him in some way. [name_u]Sage[/name_u] feels very wearable and versatile!
Sage [name_m]William[/name_m] is handsome! I’m a fan of unisex names. I have never met a sage so I don’t see it as particularly one gender or another .
I like [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] as a nickname for [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] but actually love/ prefer [name_u]Sandy[/name_u]
I can appreciate [name_u]Arden[/name_u] but it sounds a little harsh to me. Like [name_f]Violet[/name_f]- I like the names for others but it reminds me of “harden, and violent”
Some of my favourite unisex names are
[name_u]Linden[/name_u]
[name_m]Layton[/name_m]
[name_u]Reese[/name_u]
[name_u]Meredith[/name_u]
[name_u]Winter[/name_u]
[name_f]Jade[/name_f]
[name_u]Morgan[/name_u]
[name_u]Barrett[/name_u]
